MTB race 3:00:00 [3]

Dark n White Trailquest. Never mind the event, the views across an autumnal Peak in clear skies were awesome. Anyways, better riding today, ok technically just lacking in fitness. Unsurprisingly given I haven't ridden, let alone raced, for 3hrs in months.

Have come to the conclusion that because I hate running (having all the grace of an elephant may have something to do with it) I like foot O because nav is a welcome distraction. On the other hand, I enjoy MTB... so nav and stopping every 2 mins just gets in the way. TQ is the best of both worlds coz you've got to be cunning but can actually open it up now'n'again.... Nothing to do with being able to potter round looking at the views, honest...

Hike round Millstone/Over Owler - knee better than yesterday, but mainly because there wasn't as much road descending involved...

MTB race (MTBO) 1:03:00 [2]

Tankersley MTBO. Muddy path network. Lack of riding showed with poor power and strength, cautious riding. Nav so so - couple of mistakes early on and then my head wasn't really in it.

Hike up Stanage to watch the fireworks across Sheffield. Wouldn't usually log as training, but the downhill made the knee hurt grrr.

Swimming 30:00 [3]

Better balance this time - managed near-horizontal rather than feet-dragging-on-the-bottom mode, did 5x200m for some variety, had a near-drowning experience working on the good old tumble turns. Splutter.

Running 30:00 [2]

Grrr tarmac is evil. Started out ok. Running ponderings included concluding that since I only ever jogged around exploring places and until this year never tried to run any faster than an asthmatic, ageing snail, it's not entirely surprising that I don't go all that quick. And then the knee complained so I cut it short (the run, not the leg) and did some stretching.

Short jog, partly to test the knee's progress, mostly to alleviate guilt from not having done the planned bike ride. Good turn for the day was rescuing a hedgehog from the middle of the road before it got pulped. Key learn: hedgehog spikes are spikey, even with a generous covering of leaves.

Leisurely splashing around for 1.5k. Complete lack of grace in the water puts an end to any hopes of ever becoming a mermaid.
