Running warm up/down 16:00 [1] 1.87 km (8:33 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Inspire 11

Throughout day

Stretching warm up/down 25:00 [1]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Inspire 11

12 PM

Orienteering race 15:53 [4] 3.23 km (4:55 / km) +21m 4:46 / km
18c shoes: Mizuno Wave Inspire 11

SI race #4- UBC setup
Definitely feeling tired during this race, so I had to keep telling myself to push. A few shaky controls, but I took good routes, except 13-14. The last few legs had better flow as I got into the map.
2 PM

Orienteering race 15:37 [5] 3.08 km (5:04 / km) +20m 4:54 / km
19c shoes: Mizuno Wave Inspire 11

SI race #5 UBC 'chase'
Still feeling tired, but had more drive to push hard for this race. A few debatable routechoices, and small hesitations (one cp at the bottom of some sketchy looking stairs) but my looking up and reading ahead was really good. Coming into and out of the hub control I always knew my exit angle and had refolded my map before getting to it.
4 PM

Orienteering 8:36 [1] 1.22 km (7:03 / km) +6m 6:53 / km
6c shoes: Mizuno Wave Inspire 11

Partner training at Musquem park with Pia! We each drew the features we thought the other partner would need to navigate the course on a blank map, and then switched maps and ran what the other drew. Good for simplification! I think we both managed to decipher each other's drawings!!

Thanks to all the organizers who helped put on yet another flawless Sprint Camp! Despite the weather, this year was one of my favourites! Can't wait for next year!

Running warm up/down 22:00 [1] 3.3 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Throughout the day

Stretching warm up/down 30:00 [1]
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Also through day. More dynamic stretching in w/u with jogging in between stretches.
12 PM

Orienteering race (Sprint ) 16:17 [5] 3.47 km (4:42 / km) +23m 4:33 / km
16c shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

SI race #2 at Jericho beach.
Went a lot better than race #1. Good push throughout and way better reading ahead and flow. Small compass error out of 9 and hesitation into 10. Over great race, and tied for 1st!

Orienteering 25:45 [1] 4.14 km (6:13 / km) +2m 6:12 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Jericho training. Lots of CPs very close together to focus on control description and reading the right feature. Got a little repetitive after the 5th loops but still fun!
3 PM

Orienteering race 17:25 [5] 3.43 km (5:05 / km) +2m 5:04 / km
22c shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

SI race #3 Farsta!
So much crazy madness!!! Very little warm up but I got into the map right away, getting to my first CP before anyone else with the same forking. Good looking up to buildings behind the CP for easier direction planning. Thanks to Tyra for pushing me right to the end ;)

Orienteering 22:00 [1] 2.89 km (7:36 / km) +4m 7:33 / km
12c shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Training at Totem Park
First, a line-o through campus which had lots of direction change. Focused on re-folding and turning the map.
Second, a regular course to apply that idea. Cut from 9-13 because bleh :P
6 PM

Orienteering race 17:58 [4] 3.41 km (5:16 / km) +7m 5:13 / km
39c shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Partner relay at Memorial West park with Pia's dad! Soggy end of day race but lots of fun!! Took a few CPs to get used to the scale, but then it was good after that. Definitely got tired at the end, so a post run hot tub was much needed :)

Stretching 15:00 [1]

Running warm up/down 16:00 [1] 1.96 km (8:10 / km)

4 PM

Orienteering 12:46 [1] 2.14 km (5:57 / km) +3m 5:55 / km
11c shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Fun training at Oak Meadows by Brent. Some tricky maze-like corridors on one of the maps. Nice to shake out the legs from the fight.
6 PM

Orienteering race 14:50 [4] 2.75 km (5:23 / km) +40m 5:01 / km
15c shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Kick-off race at Queen Elizabeth park.
Went well for the first race. I had some great CPs with good flow and looking at exist direction, like 4, 7 and 8-11. The rest were a little shaky, not much flow and I wasn't super into it. Some debatable routechoices but after comparing with Pia and Tori they were pretty equal. For a race like that I could have slowed down just a bit and invested some time to plan. Still really enjoyed this map!

Flight to Vangroovy tomorrow!

Running 42:00 [1] 7.12 km (5:54 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Inspire 11

Brought Chloe along to ARX for the hash run but everyone left for the run while we waited for Nicole so Chloe and I just ran the rail trail after Nicole didn't show up. Blowing snow on the way out but lovely evening on the way back

Stretching 20:00 [0]

Tuesday Feb 9, 2016 #

Note
(rest day)

Rest day and a deep tissue massage. Ouf, that hurt. Lots of tightness in my hip worked out and my quad feels good. Stretching tonight, and easy run tomorrow at ARX (with Chloe!)

Stretching 10:00 [0]

Monday Feb 8, 2016 #

Cycling (Spinning) 20:00 [1] 6.0 km (18.0 kph)

Core 20:00 [1]

Stretching (Yoga) 35:00 [1]

30 mins yoga and 5 rolling. Ouch ouch ouch my hip flexors are rekt. Quad pain likely from scar tissue and tight hips/IT band. Deep tissue massage tomorrow so that should help. No hard impact for the early week
