Note

Toe was even more "asleep" than usual after the work party. So it's not just my bike shoes/fit. Although I have had issues with my boots rubbing my toes-- but I swore I could feel my pinky toe more on the R foot than left, but it continues to be the L that has the problem.

Sigh. Weird.

Trail Work 4:00:00 [1]
shoes: Vasque Hiking Boots

Kate, Rachel, and I all went to Tiger Mountain to do some trail work with WTA!

We got assigned to a suuuper muddy section where we would be building a turnpike. Wow- what a quagmire. Once I actually had to use my shovel to dig my foot out of the mud!

Short hike in, dug up some mud, foraged for (and carried) a lot of rocks, placed rocks, and short hike out.

A fidgety ride. Went to REI, played with insoles (didn't buy any!), rode to Fred Meyer's, bought gloves for my sister, messed with my cleats, my seat height.

Not the 20-mile solid ride I had wanted initially, but hey, I learned some new routes and it's good to get into the habit of running errands by bike.

Lap around Magnuson, then hung out at the end of the sculpture park, waiting for Kate to ride through on her commute. Then we rode slowly together, as she was very tired.

I experimented with the Specialized wedges in my shoes, but they take up too much volume, period. Next experiment: insoles.

Approx riding time, out 15th, around Magnolia, stopped watch at the Locks.

Note

Left pinky toe has been feeling sorta-numbish lately-- like it's almost asleep. Is it the increased bike riding or something else?

At least my hip doesn't hurt! Well, we'll see when I increase running miles again... Although I do have a theory that my big, wide, cushy Altras were the root of the problem by preventing my ankles from flexing as they should (and many problems start at the ankles). We'll see-- I run my pavement miles in my North Face shoes now which give me much better range of motion.
