Florence marathon. Very poor last minute preparations. Feel like I lost the race before it even started. Still determined to go for it and ran too fast in the beginning. Not much but just enough so that I could hold the pace only up to 30k. Last 12k were painful and I lost loads. Gutted to miss 3h but I know I can do things better. Splits 5K 20:34, 10K 41:35, 15K 1:02:59, HM 1:28:35, 25K 1:45:46, 30K 2:08:02, 35K 2:31:93, 40K 2:55:16, M 2:06:40. 16th.

run to expo and back to pick up our race bags, chips, and numbers. we only had 20min to get there by the time we got to our hotel but we made it (with only 4min to spare)! phew it was close..

Note

travel to Florence. quite stressful and long day all in all. 9am in the morning drive to Coventry to catch a coach to Heathrow. There was a bad accident on M40 and we got stuck there for 1h. Got a bit stressed about getting the flight and making it in time to Florence. Made it to Heathrow in time but our flight was delayed about 50min so next we had to stress about getting to marathon expo in time. Drive to hotel took 10min more than expected and when finally there we barely had enough time to make it to expo anymore. So our gentle evening jog turned into fast 3km run in order to get our race numbers. Could have been a lot easier day if we had travelled on Friday.. Next time I'll be smarter...
