NAOC 2014 Sprint M45+ - course 5b - in urban setting

I really enjoyed this and wish I was in better shape to kick some butt. I am very happy with the min/km. I would not have thought I could maintain that in a race.
My victory was inching out the two places below me each by only one second.
This was all urban and park setting. I wore the talons as they are very light.

A little surprised to see I lost about 20 seconds to the winning time on each of the first 3 controls but I was pacing myself as I didnt know really how far I could go.
Botched the last third of leg 6 by dropping my concentration and entering two consecutive residential driveways instead of the church driveway.
lost over 1 minute on #9 even though I liked my route choice. This could just have been running out of gas.
Lost a bunch on #11 also. I almost ran past it and had to stop and think of where I was. I definitely shut my brain off for 20 - 30 seconds after punching ctrl #10 and it cost me.
I felt a bit too cautious in the arena area but I wanted to be sure I was punching the correct control.
I had the fastest time to the go control but lost some time in the finish shoot. It was a 'U' shape and as I rounded the turn, the finish was not distinguishable. There were all sorts of banners and pop-up tents just behind the finish and the shoot opened to multiple areas (I'm guessing, for the relay later that day) I let up briefly to give me a chance to identify the finish control.
Overall, very fun and I'm glad my course stayed out of the woods. I just needed something different.

NAOC 2014 M45+ long - course 7a

Funny, I covered less ground in the Long than I did yesterday in the Middle.
I felt I had a better run and had better map contact except a long leg near the end (#8) a 1.2km leg that I spent too much time on the first quarter of the distance trying to keep track of what trail I was on. Happily, I threw that plan out the window and started running in a NNE direction with the plan to hit the power line (which was about 200m to the control) this worked perfect and I had a good attack point from there. I should have done that from the start of the leg.
I'm glad I switched to my spiked O-shoes. They were snug and gave me good traction.

NAOC2014 M45+ middle - course 7a

bad start with a warmup map that I could not figure out where I was, but it helped identify the type of map I would be looking at.

felt good until #7 - 300m into woods and missed the mark had to come back out to the powerline cut to reorient. Found the stream and followed it up to the control. The stream was not very distinct in parts, fanning out into a wide hilly marsh.
I had a reasonable finish with the last 6 controls or so. running neck and neck with 2 other o'ers. I beat them on several - small errors were going back an forth. I chickened out on my approach to the go control and took the trails. I should have run straight at the control - only 100m
