5.6 on a 3.9 orange = 144% :(
This was supposed to be a confidence builder for tomorrow... that didn't quite happen.
I hope I didn't over do it.

I had problems on two legs that happen to be the same area in a crossover :(

Hike / Trek 1:15:00 [3] 3.5 km (21:26 / km)
shoes: NB-Vibram1520

Hike /bushwhack a proposed trail alignment from stockertown to Jacobsburg state park. And I thought Fair hill had thorns. At one point I only had two options - 70 meters of thorns or 70m of swamp. I chose swamp and it was shin deep :(
This will be a real challenge to build.

Red course-
I did this to see how I will fair at the Billygoat next week. It didn't convince me I'm ready. I really didnt want to run after about 10 minutes into this course. An hour in I could feel my ham strings tightening. At 8k and 1:40 the 13k goat is a possibility but the vertical may be the end of me.
I think it will all rest on how clean my navigation is... and that has been fairly good this year... if I remember to check control numbers.

#1 Happy I stepped over into the correct field before taking off.
#2 enter the woods a little too soon and was at the first ridge but caught this right away and kept going.
#3 Still feeling good and didnt let up for this.
#4 This is where I ran out of steam. Had to walk the hill. Nice placement and great map detail
#5 I went wide to the right and took a trail through the woods to limit vertical... not sure it was the best choice.
#6 I must have decided on a route, started, and then changed my mind about 5 times on this. I find I do this often on longer legs. REALLY UGLY ROUTE
#7 a short leg that I wanted to crush...only problem was the 30m climb.
#8 Tried to keep my elevation and not descend.
#9 Running at houses that were not on the map as they were on the other side of the road. really wanted to cut the corner to the control but the drop and green veg kept me on the road :(
#10 good choice going low and sticking with the trail...then the climb to the control.
#11 didnt want to go straight at this and take all the vertical so I swung left. This put me in some green. Looking at it now, swinging right may have provided better woods with the same rise.
#12 executed this just the way I planned... but in low gear. Got to the picnic area at the crest (with flat. mowed law) and it took everything I had to start jogging again :(
#13 Pacing was a bit off as I let up and checked the map just before the control area came into view.
#14 I liked this one. Nice open woods and a big rock to attack from.
#15 Another short leg I wanted to crush but it was all uphill.
#16 I knew what I needed to do and it all went well, I just needed to move quicker.
#17 made it to the trail crossing but got pulled left (towards the stream) for a bit until I corrected and got the trail. good attack.
# 18 botched this. My first impulse was to drop low and go to the field, but I didnt want to loose elevation so I went horizontal... got to the trail but then my scene of distance was off and I cut up the stream way earlier that needed. REALLY UGLY ROUTE
Finish - tentative approach and I didnt want to take off down the wrong trail.
