Bike Commute 30:00 [2] 6.0 mi (5:00 / mi)

Oww! Sore today, so I guess I really was running hard yesterday...

Sunday Aug 20, 2006 #

Orienteering race 1:44:34 [5] ****
spiked:19/20c

Day two, much better, only undershot one control loosing maybe a minute, otherwise I went straight to the rest of them, even though it was a fairly complex area with lots and lots of rocks to get mixed up in... Physically I felt better, but still like I was moving like molasses, I was running almost all the way but I didn't feel like I had any speed what-so-ever!! Well, except at the finish where I had TWO runners right on my heels!!!

Orienteering race 1:37:12 [5] ***
spiked:17/20c

Day one of the US Champ. Physically felt like crap and as a result made several mistakes late that cost me time, otherwise I was spot on.

Rock Climbing 1:00:00 [2]

Red Rock Canon, did two leads, both 7's and too easy, I need to try an 8 and maybe even a 9...

Trail Run 1:13:53 [3]

We went to a pub afterwards where they serve your food to you raw, you then take it over to the grill and cook it to your version of perfection, very cool place!!

Bike Commute 30:00 [2] 6.0 mi (5:00 / mi)

Trail Run long 1:37:38 [4]

Ran two big loops in the garden with the intent that this run would mirror the long run at the US Champs in a week. The first loop was 48 and change, then 3 minutes rest and water, which I figure is about the time spent at a water stop and while punching at all the controls, then 46 and change for the second loop, exactly as I intended, I picked up the pace towards the end of the run, just like in a race...hopefully. Now I just have to be mentally alert and not make bad route choices and I'll be golden.

Note

...and now to taper off a little...

Amazing how a near miss with a car will wake you up...!

Bike Commute 30:00 [2] 6.0 mi (5:00 / mi)

Trail Run long 1:21:00 [3]

Well...longish...

Bike Commute 30:00 [2] 6.0 mi (5:00 / mi)

Road Ride 1:44:00 [4] 28.5 mi (16.4 mph)

Loops in the Garden. Went with the intention of doing three loops, but I felt so good that I did three and a half, and probably could have done four, but I decided that discretion is the better part of valor and didn't want to totally destroy myself. 16.3 mph average, 41.2 mph max and 2122' of climb!! Yikes, no wonder I'm tired now...
