Orienteering 1:25:00 [2] * 9.5 mi (8:57 / mi)
I wanted to go for a long run today, but didn't like the thought of just going out by myself and doing the usual Hudson run - that's boring. So instead I went online and found a family adventure map of Central Park. The actual map cost money, but the site had a pdf brochure for this adventure hunt which included a mini version of the map, with the word "promotional" stamped in huge letters all across. I printed out the lower half and was able to read the trail, lake, and building features (which are the only things that matter in Central Park anyway). The adventure hunt had 15 "controls", which were all statues, posts, or inscriptions of some sort. At each one, I had to stop to read and look at the object and answer some question about it. If I actually shelled out $10 for the adventure hunt package, I could then use my answers to claim a treasure.
The controls were not in order direction-wise, so I ended up running across the lower half of Central Park many times over. I think I probably ran somewhere between 9 and 10 miles, with breaks at each control to write down answers, but I really can't be sure. I wish I knew how many minutes per mile my easy pace is...
