Note
(rest day)

My legs need a break. I will take the next week really, really easy to be ready for Oringen.

Saturday Jul 12, 2008 #

Running 6:58 [1] 0.71 mi (9:49 / mi)
ahr:114 max:133 shoes: Green VJ Integrators

Very slow jogging (and some walking, not included) with Boris and Peter to the start. Legs really fatigued...

Orienteering 1:13:48 [4] 7.9 km (9:21 / km)
ahr:160 max:174 shoes: Green VJ Integrators

EVENT: Eskilstuna Weekend Long distance
COURSE: D21L, 7.9 km, 18 controls
MAP: Vilstaskogen, 1:15,000, 2.5m contours
TERRAIN: Top part of the map runnable, bottome half junky woods - cut-down areas, less contour detail, rockier, greener. Lots of paths.
MY RUN: Today's course was very good training for me, as a lot of legs had 2-3 possible route choices. I did not always choose the best ones, which cost me some time, but it was fun to have so much decision-making! Very tired towards the end of the course - resorted to walking more often.
RESULT: 19/23 finishers on D21L. Definitely lost some significant time on route choice and some mistakes, but overall a good effort.

Running 10:27 [2] 1.16 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: Green VJ Integrators

Slow warm-up. Despite taking it easy the past few days, my legs still felt kind of heavy.

Orienteering 34:07 [4] 4.0 km (8:32 / km)
shoes: Green VJ Integrators

EVENT: Eskilstuna Weekend middle distance race.
COURSE: D21L, 4 km, 11 controls
MAP: Vilstaskogen, 1:10,000, 2.5m contours
TERRAIN: Top part of the map (used for today's course) is mainly very runnable white forest with lots of contour detail. Footing tough as usual, but otherwise very fast woods.
MY RUN: I started off feeling somewhat hesitant, getting used to 2.5m contours again after Gothenburg. My confidence level and comfort with the terrain were good, but I still have a lot of work to do when it comes to actually finding the control once in the circle. I lost time in the control circle on 5/11 controls and lost time due to veering off the straight line on two of the other controls. I fixed all mistakes reasonably quickly, so some of these were 15-20 seconds worth and the biggest time loss was about 70 seconds. This is still a lot, but an improvement nonetheless, seeing as I would always make at least one 3+ minute mistake in Swedish middles prior to this summer.
RESULTS: 21/26 in D21L. Running D21L when there is also a D21 can be somewhat demoralizing - there were lots of really good women running my course! Emma Dahlstedt, Lena Eliasson, and Elin Skantze were top three in about ~25 minutes.

Note

My Swedish ranking is on the rise. My excellent middle distance race was unfortunately not ranked but the other two races were, so I am now ranked 370th in Sweden, having moved up 46 places in one weekend. Progress is so easy at first! :)

Running 49:08 [2] 5.08 mi (9:40 / mi)
shoes: Asics 2008

Easy run: NĂ¥sten indistinct trails, then half of the testbana course, then through the fields in the valley, then on gravel/road the rest of the way. I felt sluggish and tired most of the time, so did a few drills and strides at the end, in the shade.

Stretching 5:00 [0]

Wednesday Jul 9, 2008 #

Running 54:25 [2] 10.2 km (5:20 / km) +210m 4:50 / km
ahr:138 max:160 shoes: Asics 2008

Easy run - three loops around Norby lit track. I felt like I was getting slower each time, but the splits were 13:34, 13:35, 13:34. My legs still feel heavy and tired, so it'll be another easy day tomorrow.

Tuesday Jul 8, 2008 #

Running 58:11 [2] 6.46 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics 2008

Easy run around Stadsskogen. Knees hurt, but this always happens after several days off, so nothing to worry about.

Strength Training 10:00 [1]

Core, push-ups, dips. Need to do this more often.

Stretching 5:00 [0]

Note
(rest day)

Walked around a very hilly park in Gothenburg, but no actual training because of the long train ride back to Uppsala.
