Trail Run 4:38:23 [3] 24.75 mi (11:15 / mi)
ahr:159 max:177 shoes: Stinson Evo

Final long run prior to tapering went quite well. Lower McCleay to the beginning of Wildwood and then Wildwood to Wild Cherry to Dogwood to Wildwood to Firelane 1 back to Alder to Leif to Dogwood down Wild Cherry to Wildwood and back to Lower McCleay. HR again felt more labored than it actually was. I pushed the climb to Pittock to see how my legs would hold up later on and they did fine. The only walking was when I was eating. Food on the run was 4 of the energy bites and half a bottle of my homemade gel. I think after today I can comfortably avoid buying pre-made energy gels as my homemade options seem to be working. Took about 1 s-cap every half hour and didn't have any cramping issues. Looking forward to the end of the month. I think I may be able to break 6 hours this attempt at the distance.

Running 50:00 [3] 5.05 mi (9:54 / mi)
ahr:151 max:166 shoes: Kinvara

Nice easy run with Max. Got rushed by a great dane that hit me in the quad with his head and sent Max jumping onto a retaining wall. All was well though. The owner apologized and we went on our way. Ran in the Kinvaras for the first time since December and they feel like they still have a bit of life in them. These 5 give me my first 50 mile week. Slowly building up so I'll be able to hit my goal of consistent 70+ miles over the next year or so.

Trail Run 1:31:17 [3] 9.5 mi (9:37 / mi)
ahr:163 max:177 shoes: Stinson Evo

1.5 hours in Forest Park. Thurman gate to Wild Cherry up to the top, Dogwood to Wildwood, Wildwood to Nature and back to Dogwood up to Wild Cherry and back down to Thurman. I think it's the fastest avg. time I've clocked this year. I think I've only gone faster in races last fall. Nothing special about food or anything today. I feel I've been battling a slight illness but I'm hoping this will help me sweat it out. I had hoped to do strength training tonight as well but I think I'll wait until tomorrow after an easy 5 with Max. My HR felt more labored than it actually was but overall I felt great on the run with a few twinges of a cramp in my right foot. I'd love to figure out what's causing that. I also think I may cut the quick laces from the Evo's and use the regular laces to give me more control of how tight they are.

Strength 20:00 [3]

1 set of my exercises done this evening. I should have done 3 sets last night but I was exhausted. I'm hoping to get a full set of 3 in tomorrow night as they are definitely helping with my leg issues.

Running 1:10:00 [3] 8.2 mi (8:32 / mi)
ahr:159 max:175 shoes: Launch

A needed 8 miles this evening after 2 10 hour days at work. I was feeling beat down but the run woke me up and I was able to keep a comfortable pace. Not riding on Monday made my legs feel better today than they did last Tuesday. I think I'll mix in some more biking once the 50k is done at the end of the month and try to get some mixed days of workouts in. I used bodyglide on my feet with the drymax socks and my feet felt better on the road than they have in a while though still a bit painful about 6 miles in. I will continue to experiment until I find a solution to the problem.
