Orienteering race (Leinster Champs) 1:09:41 [4] 8.6 km (8:06 / km) +400m 6:34 / km
shoes: OROC

Satisfactory run.
Have been feeling tired since WWT but I coped well physically though tired at end! With IOC eating into spare time a lot, my training is almost down to just races so I'm going into JK behind on fitness compared to last year.

I was fairly well focussed throughout apart from 20 (Lime Kiln) where I couldn't make out detail on map and the description needed to be more helpful!!
1, 2, 3 fine. 4 I dropped a minute. Large re-entrant to NE was not indicated on map and this distracted me. I saw rocks and thought I was close enough to see control if there. Didn't see it and thought I was NW of site and headed to Re-entrant higher up. Turned back then.
Didn't think I lost a lot of time at 5, but dropped another minute. Struggled to retain height going round and dropped too low.
Nearly had big issue with 9 as i was just about to turn back thinking I had gone too far, when there it was.
Dropped 30 secs with route choice to 10, but the path route gave me opportunity to look at later controls.
Went to track between 14 and 15. Meant loosing climb and climbing again. Clearly some went direct.
18 was a key leg and I had fastest split on course. The more direct route had too much climb.
Dropped 1:30 at 20. Looking on wrong side of road! It looks like it should be visible from track but it was on north side hidden from main track. Couldn't read the detail here even with the magnifier.

4 minutes in all from optimum run and even knocking off 4 mins, I would still have been 3rd in M50!, but happy with M45 win none the less and happy that WWT is out of my legs!

As for 2 little ones. Tiovn's first outing unaccompanied. Fair play to him. The only real issue was that the taped route was not taped!! He was really upset with this as this was something I stressed to him at the start. He was on the correct route but had turned around to come back to previous control to look for tapes, but a huge stroke of luck, in that Zoe came along and told him this is the correct way. He's only 8 and this was a serious oversight.

As for Zoe, she thrives in rough terrain and fairly flew around her course. she had problems with the Lime Kiln as well dropping about 3 minutes, otherwise very tidy.

Running 1:19:26 [3] 14.9 km (5:20 / km) +40m 5:16 / km
shoes: Inov8 flyroc 303

Longer than planned and legs still feeling tired.

3km longer because I found bunch of keys. Running around asking likely owners, but no one owned up, so eventually replaced them where I found them.
