3hr Minigaine at Kincumber with Jem

Nice area and enjoyable course although more of the State Forrest north could have been used and the map had a few issues. Some of the street controls were difficult to link in efficiently, otherwise it was fairly straightforward to plan with obvious bush loops in the north and south. Estimated around 25km for all controls and with only 2 major climbs we planned to go for the lot. It was cool & overcast so I got away with carrying a 600ml water bottle rather than a camelback. Didn't need to refill.

We went south to south Kincumber first then an anti-clockwise loop. Had quite a few hiccups...

- Exiting 45 we went south on an unmapped track instead of SE (5mins).
- 33 & 68 Circles were in the wrong spot (5mins).
- Confused by the vehicle track description (2mins).
- 30 couldn't find which was on the wrong track (5mins).
- 81 a bad nav error taking wrong turn on the map fold (3mins).

We both felt good and managed to run the whole way except for the two steep climbs. Also had some stops/rests at the error points mentioned above.

Got the lot (2370pts) in 2hr 33m. 1min ahead of Mike Hotchkins who trailed us most of the way but caught up at the misplaced controls. Jem was very pleased to finally beat his sister in a Rogaine (Gill, 2:39).

Sprint Series 8 at Callan Park

Traffic was heavy coming back down the M1 so made it back just in time for this. Glad I made it because it was a fun course and haven't run on this map for a while. Got luckier with the weather this week with a nice break in the rain. Reasonably clean run... just not enough energy to go fast. 4mins behind the leaders.

Pennant Div-3 Round 3.
Planned to rest today but our no.1 Salim was a bit jet lagged so had to step in last minute. Physically felt on top throughout the match but got out-smarted by a crafty old guy GC (247) 3-1. Movement was better than previous weeks, just too many impatient unforced errors.

SSS 25 at Parramatta

Short, flat, fun course around the Hospitals and Parra Park. The northern half was fresh in my memory from sprint training a few weeks ago. Main route decision was when to link in the central cluster (13-24-29-29-18). Decided to get them from the south between 20 and 19.

Made a scrappy start looking at the wrong fence for 2 (10 secs) then hit some dead ends/fences on the way to 12 (10secs). Better flow through the streets 1-11-21, near the stadium 10-20 and across the river for 13. I didn't notice the gap in the fence on the way to 24 so went the long way around (extra 30secs) then 29 and around the end of the fence to 18. Picked up speed again through the park for the southern loop 19-8-9-28. A gradual climb up to 27 then picked up good speed again through 17-30-26-16. Lost concentration near the Children's Hospital - turning off too early into the car park south of 7 (30 secs). A nice run along the riverside track for 6-25-14-5 then 23, in-out for 4 and finished via 22-3.

Scored 600 in 36:56 which was enough for 100 in OM ahead of James 39:28. Was 2 mins behind Richard G and a minute behind Glenn who were battling hard for the Masters series. Unfortunately Andy is out with a calf strain so I was able to wrap up the OM series a week earlier than the usual last round decider.
