O race 42:31 [3] 3.41 km (12:29 / km) +125m 10:33 / km

ACT Middle Distance Champs at Honeysuckle Creek - first real O race of the year. Area was previously pretty thick but thicker now after a fire 13 years ago - but Matt Crane had chosen some of the less thick parts. Course listed as 2.7 km in a straight line but often route choice was around some very rocky outcrops. Blew 4 minutes on control 1 - after being put off by a few people milling around looking for the control - I unwisely assumed they were in the wrong area and looked in another gully nearby - they were just not looking hard enough! Clean run/walk after that. Liz must be feeling a bit better as she beat me by a few seconds. First in M60A in a very thin field of 2. Leg held up altho a small niggle in my right knee - which Liz says is probably old age!

O race 19:09 [3] 2.58 km (7:26 / km) +47m 6:49 / km

ACT Sprint Champs at Bruce CIT (again). Same venue as one of the recent Canberra Sprints events and the locale for the same event 2 years ago. First run/jog/walk for a while so took it easy and picked up the pace toward the end of the course - finished 2nd a few seconds behind Paul Prudhoe. Leg felt OK afterwards which is pleasing.

road cycling 1:21:22 [3] 19.7 km (4:08 / km) +289m 3:51 / km

MTB ride to the arboretum for coffee and chat - flat tyre on the way - the second flat in three rides here! - which explains the slow 8th km (19 minutes). Very pleasant ride and found another river crossing point that is rideable.

ride with Peter 1:49:00 [3] 43.9 km (2:29 / km) +331m 2:24 / km

Peleton of 4 altho joined by another rider/orienteer (Wayne Gregson) on the way which meant 5. On his 67th birthday Vern led most of the way to the coffee stop but we showed no forgiveness on the way home and dropped him with 3 kms to go. Warm day here and only a small headwind on the way to Kingston.
