Philadelphia Ave still closed at Carroll Ave which results in a bottleneck as the lane of cars that want to turn on to Philadelphia are forced to stay on Carroll Ave.

B - 8:15 - 1.5 miles - 5:30/mile

Bicycled from GAP to the bike station across from Mark's Kitchen; from thereI walked to the CVS on Carroll Ave, bought some stuff, and then walked back to the bike station; I bicycled the rest of the way home from there. It was almost 19 minutes from the time I got off the bicycle until I got back on it.

Control Pickup - All of these controls were easy to find. I spotted all but one of them from trails. I've got no idea if any of these controls were part of advanced courses.

I didn't have the time to run a course but I still showed up to help with control pickup. I was also there to pickup supplies for the meet at Swanson Road on September 27.

ARC 4:50

Surprise that my ARC time is as good as it is considering that I had to stop (80% of the way up the hill) because an SUV (that was waiting for the vehicle in front of him to make a turn) was blocking the bicycle lane.

Tried a slightly different route from GAP to WAU. Instead of bicycling on Carroll Ave I bicycled on Maple Ave. There is considerably less traffic on Maple Ave although there's a section with lots of speed bumps. I think I prefer the Maple Ave route.

I grabbed a bike from the new CaBi bike station near Washington Adventist University and for the first time bicycled up Carroll Ave from the hospital on my way to Columbia Heights. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it might be; definitely not as long or steep as the Arlington Ridge Climb.

I've walked up Carroll Ave countless numbers of times in the 15+ years I've lived in Takoma Park but bicycling up it is an entirely different proposition.

Lots of stop and go, mostly due to red lights.
