Orienteering race 58:06 [4] 9.0 km (6:27 / km)
shoes: Innov8

WOC OY - Waikawa 7.1Km

Back felt a bit sore right from waking up this morning, and worryingly sore just before running. Fairly sore early on, but took it fairly gently and it seemed to improve. Running relatively comfortably towards the end. Struggling a bit with the terrain though. Plenty of sand and lots of deep vegetation on the dunes.

Technically wobbly at the start, but got gradually more consistent.

Lost 45 sec on 4 - no clear attack point or picture of the control circle, and turned the wrong way when I didn't find it immediately.

15 sec on 7. Not enough of a plan.

45 sec on 8. Went to the right knoll and was expecting it to be on the far side. Wandered around a bit before checking control descriptions.

15 sec on 16.

Other minor misses on 1, 11, 19, 28.

Cycling 1:42:33 [3]

BMR - Moonshine - junction of Bulls Run Rd and Moonshine Rd and back the same way. Awful conditions - solid rain most of the time.

Feeling pretty strong all the way, but back was a bit achy at times.

Cycling 42:33 [5]

Up to the top of Avro Road and then 2x5 efforts up the last section (from the gate into the bush to where it flattens out). About 1-45 each.

Good tough session - probably almost as good as doing normal running intervals. Back still not perfect, but only marginal pain on the bike.

Running 22:50 [3] 5.0 km (4:34 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 29

Short Avian-Avro loop.

Back still sore, but didn't feel it much while running - most of the pain in lower left buttock. But not too bad really - was able to forget it at times. Running feels good.

Cycling 1:01:40 [3] 25.73 km (2:24 / km)

The Whitemans Valley loop ACW.

Windy. Generally WNW but swirling around. Hard work at times along the valley, but also hard later.

Legs felt really good - able to go fairly hard and got up the hill pretty well.

Had woken up with back feeling sorer this morning, and could feel it at times on the bike, but didn't aggravate it.

Running 16:48 [2] 3.0 km (5:36 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 29

The lower half of the short Avian-Avro loop.

Gentle because only just off the plane, and also back sore right from the start. Didn't get worse though and felt fine afterwards. Only hurting while running. Still, need to take it fairly easy with the Australian races coming up.
