Orienteering race 39:38 [4] 9.0 km (4:24 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 30

Xmas 5-days day 3 - Urban 45 min score event - Pyrmont

Some interesting Sprint style bits with steps and fences. But quite a lot of dead running, particularly along wharves. Significantly hotter.

Schoolboy error - missed 28 completely. Realised while running from 8 to 17 but couldn't face going back and might have struggled to finish anyway after that. So slowed down a bit for the last few. Knee didn't feel great right from the start, but actually improved a bit later. Probably good that it stopped me running too hard because I would have suffered later in the heat.

Orienteering race 14:59 [4] 3.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 30

Xmas 5 days day 2 - Cockatoo Island, in the middle of Sydney Harbour. Sprint 2.1Km

Really good fun Sprint course with controls in buildings, tunnels, stairs etc.

Mostly pretty good - not quite in control at times, but no time losses on controls of more than a couple of seconds.

Physically feeling rather better than yesterday, but knee still sore and so was not going flat out. 2:45 down, but a rather better winning time than yesterday (Gustav Bergman).

Orienteering race 25:39 [4] 5.0 km (5:08 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 30

Xmas 5-days day 1 - Georges Heights, Sydney. Long Sprint 4.5Km 100m

A bit rusty at the start but got into it. A few minor time losses but nothing too significant. Unfortunately knee was sore right from the start, so felt like I couldn't go flat out. But didn't feel good enough to go really hard anyway - felt a bit of a struggle. Surprised to be within 3 mins of the lead - suspect Tim would have been quite a bit quicker.

Running 24:01 [3] 5.0 km (4:48 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 29

The short Avro-Avian loop, doing longer loop on the downhill bit. Just loosening up. Felt fine.

Running 57:01 [3] 13.0 km (4:23 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 30

Needed to retrieve bike from servicing in middle of Upper Hutt. Ran down BMR and via St Pats to river, then up river and up Gibbon St.

Knee a bit grumbly again - will struggle when I have to get over stuff. Feeling pretty good and pushing fairly hard to get there in time to meet up with the family.

Cycling 44:09 [3]

Cycled back via Wallaceville Hill.

Feeling pretty tired over the second half. Should have taken water - it was a warm day.

Tuesday Dec 23, 2014 #

Running 55:43 [5] 12.0 km (4:39 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 30

Hills. The 3 x full hill, 6 x half hill, 3 x full hill session.

Didn't feel particularly fast, but it was hard on the lungs all the way through so probably doing some good. Knee mostly OK, but complained a bit on some of the quick ones. Might not be able to go full throttle next week.
