Ran around the lake again... can't seem to get away from it. I must promise myself to do a more interesting run tomorrow... or maybe when someone is back in the country who would be willing to come search for me:)
My legs were achy from walking around Oslo yesterday for hours with my orientation group. About 5 of us international students from the same program wore our "buddy leaders" out and kept deflecting their requests to go to a campus pub until 7 pm. Finally we gave in and I had the pleasure of purchasing a beer for $11. Well that's find it you're into specialty microbrews but this was just a regular beer for college kids. Ah well.
Ran around the lake but took some upper big trails for most of it. I did a few pickups at the end while running back through the sports college. I was listening to a mix from college which really got me going (Cher, a few a capalla songs, Madonna, Garth Brooks, Moxy fruvus). Yeah we were weird even in college.
Ran around my little lake again with some bonus running up a side-path for a few minutes. Walked back home for a few minutes to cool down. I need to start lengthening my runs as 30 minutes is great to do every day but especially before classes start I want to get in at least 45 minutes. Also the lake may start to get old fast.
Went for an easy run with Cristina and Øystein around Sognsvann (the little lake near our student village).
To be continued....
(we're going to get the key to Cristina's room now!)
OK so the room looks great, a slightly bigger bed than in my room, much bigger kitchen with a dishwasher(!) and sharing with only 4 rooms.
Now back to the run. We met up with Øystein for the run and he was nice enough to run at my speed (OK I was pushing it a bit up some small hills). After about 30 minutes I begged for mercy and cooled down for 15 minutes while they ran a little more. Afterwards we ate our first true meal out (hot dogs don't really count do they?) downtown at Yaya's, a quirky Thai place.
