And the park sprint? I felt foolish, could not make any sense of anything. It was so strange...a white car approached me and said "you are going the wrong way!" that was so distracting. And...I just couldn't seem to get it together. Was glad to be done!

Green Long--Yellowwood State Forest
Started off very conservatively and took the easiest route to #1. And #2...once I got into the map, 3, 4, 5, and 6 seemed to flow OK. Then I headed to 7 and changed strategy along the way. Yeah that was dumb. Wound up walking right past it and had to make my way back slowly so I wouldn't miss it. And, staying on the contour line meant fighting some unmarked green, Gah. Lost a good 10-15 there.
(In my defense, I thought I had miscounted reentrants because it was so hairy in there.)
Slow to 8 to get right with things, then OK to 9 and 10 then on to 11...and made parallel error going down a spur to 11. Shoot shoot shoot. Another 10-15 min down the tubes. Then on my way to 12, got into my head the last 3 controls and a plan then tick, tick, tick! I'm having some nice finishes.

Night O Champs, ran non-competitively.
First time doing an A meet. Really liked it. Start 1, 2, 3, 4 went fine. Totally focused on big attacks. Then to 5, and walked past it a couple of times. Finally went to six to reattack to 5, and boom. Lower down than anticipated. On to 6 and 7. For 7 I attacked form the trail jx. Then on to 8 out to the road then up the creek so to speak.
I was realizing that my big attacks were probably taking longer, but felt I needed to stick with it anyway. So, my route choices weren't sublime, but executed them well it seems.
On to 9, attacked from the trail. The marshes were extra large with the all the recent precip. On to 10 via trails, had to attack twice, I think my bearing was too soft.
11 was a bear. According to the map, the better route was along the south edge of the uncrossable water then up and over. It took forever, quite water logged and thick. Later learned there was an unmapped trail along the top. Took trails to the creek 12 was on and followed the creek. 13 I cut in too soon...and had to reattack. My trave to 14 was fine, but got terribly confused for 14 and 15. Lost so much time there. Didn't go far enough for 14 and then 15 I turned north!!! gah...gotta watch that! Over to 16 and attacked from the bend in the road.
South to 17 and attacked from the most reliable part of the road, but later realized could have saved a bit from another location. Then 18, 19, 20 and 21 just whizzed. I was happy about that!
