It was going to be a hot day and was and was already quite humid when Mark, Alice and I left the Wireworks car park, for a sort of reverse Tintern Trot.
(Good displays in car park, the 17-18th century wire drawing process is quite ingenious with two sets of guys in line on a type of big swing running the embryonic hot wire through sets of reducing diameter dies. The swing (and presumably furnace bellows) driven by a water wheel, not a job I would like to do if re-incarnated into the past.
Route was a good choice as 80%+ in the much cooler woodland. Followed by ice cream and coffee out side the old station cafe - all really very good, particularly the company. Hot day but clouded over later so suspect avoided 30+ degrees. (Not a good day to be a wire worker)
