Run - off road 23:45 [3] 4.7 km (5:03 / km) +50m 4:48 / km
shoes: Walsh Ultra

Helen's Nature Reserve loop - wanted to try out the new Walshes, was unsurprisingly far drier underfoot than last week but there were still a fair few muddy bits around, but there was no danger of slipping and sliding around at all :) Ran it a little harder than on the early morning headtorch runs, didn't feel too bad.

Night Orienteering 27:00 [3] *** 2.8 km (9:39 / km) +70m 8:34 / km
spiked:3/3c shoes: 2007 Falcons

Route choice exercise on Wittenham - took wrong path at beginning of route to #1 but adapted route on the fly and still hit it pretty well. Others were fine, compass work was relatively good and aiming off well.

Night Orienteering 45:00 [2] *** 3.3 km (13:38 / km) +75m 12:15 / km
spiked:6/9c shoes: 2007 Falcons

Second course of the evening, labelled 'hard'. Had problems with holding lines through vegetation/brashings on this one and so decided to re-run one leg in particular after completely screwing it up first time round. Other screw-ups were:
- heading towards the wrong distinctive tree, which didn't have a re-entrant just beyond it, in one of the open bits
- not seeing a reflector after being just the wrong side of a fallen conifer on a veg boundary, and then heading (for I don't know what reason) the opposite way along the boundary to that I should have given the direction I'd aimed off.

So two compass errors, and one act of considerable stupidity, on this one...
