My hill route - from home to end of Willis Point Road and back. This is the second consecutive week I've flatted on this road. and the second week where the new inner tube has had a leak presta valve - is it a coincidence that I've come across two defective presta valves or is it due to moisture in the presta valve freezing open the valve due to the CO2 cartridge discharge?

Spinning 45:00 [4]

My first spinning session for a long time - a distinct reminder of why I don't like this type of work out. Ugh.

Wet and windy road ride - got a chance to see if my BBB booties would keep the rain off my new shimano R220's and they worked quite well. The only water penetration was from the 1) soles (there's a hole in the carbon fiber sole back from the toe which wasn't covered by the bootie) and 2) water seeping past the bootie top and my pants and into the shoe via my tech sox where the wicking action worked in reverse; go figure.

Other than that, a good way to start the day, other than the Land Rover driver, despite her all wheel drive, who decided to slide out of a downhill switchback turn and drift in my general direction. The "fight or flight" instinct kicked in a wee bit too late for my liking (maybe I'm desensitized to idiot drivers) and I barely made it to my only safety zone, the ditch. At least the driver stopped and took the time to remove her cell phone from her ear, lower the window and ask if I was ok. "Toodles" she said, waving her 5bux venti whatever she was drinking. Beeeeyatch!

Then I flatted. Of course, I didn't have my hand pump, instead relying on my air cartridge fill - wet hands and discharging air into the tube meant for the cartridge assembly freezing to my glove. Quite hilarious as I tried to peel it off.

...and that be that!

Brisk Ride....but it seemed laboured. I've slacked off with my riding and as I'm not running, I haven't had much cardio or strength time either.

I've been doing some low back stretches and strengthening to take care of right sided deep low back issues which has been changing my running gait and this has affected my left foot to the point where I haven't been able to run since MOMAR in July, which sucks.

Stubbornly, I thought it would resolve on it's own which it didn't and then I've been waiting for a miracle cure which didn't happen and then I finally hauled my sorry punk ass into my therapists' office who berated me for being such a wanker and not dealing with this sooner.
So, my stretch and strengthening of the low back will translate into more controlled left forefoot stability and ultimately take care of my left peroneal longus.
