X on the Rocks Series - Masters category. Felt a bit more secure on the bike, but my lack of fitness did me in. This race was flatter and faster.

CycloX debut, Masters category in the X on the Rocks series. What a debacle. 4:12 off the front makes me 25th.

Definitely a different skill set needed. My latent mtn biking ability came in handy, but since I haven't been mtn biking for quite some time, those skills required dusting off. Tight, twisty turns and coming in with too much speed was my nemesis as I went down three times. Good learning environment though.

Meandering ride to Cordova Bay to watch some footie - flatted on the way back. Rear wheel, sidewall on the tire hit a sharp bit of a pothole and ripped out a 2.5 centimeter chunk and me with no duct tape.

I wasn't far from home and despite my pleading for the Sag wagon, I was forced to walk the walk of shame.

HR was high - haven't been feeling well since my NB trip - feeling tired and achey. My perceived effort was surprisingly lower than what I felt I was doing - I was surprised my HR went to 170.

Note

Travelling west to Moncton NB. Sitting in a cramped 737 a/c seat isn't fun from Vancouver to Toronto and then to Moncton as prolonged sitting without activity made me very jittery. Just got back from half hour walk around the hotel neighbourhood to stretch my legs. Too dark to see anything and what I could see confirmed I was in an industrial area next to this airport hotel. No access to wine and/or beer, however the iconic Timmys' was at the corner, open 24/7, eh!
