Run 32:35 [2]

Quick run at my 'rents place in Courtenay - I ran around parts of the golf course much to the consternation of golfers. I got to dodge golf balls.

Paddling 1:15:00 [3]

Cranked it up a notch today - didn't dunk and tried applying some power to the stroke, which was met with limited success, but I think I'm going faster than my ocean going seaslug of a 'yak. It's hard to tell...I did pass an OC6 being paddled by a mixed crew of 'well into retirement' folks ;-)

biking 43:35 [3]

To ORPC and return for paddling

Paddling 1:05:00 [2]

I'm seriously underwhelming the surfski during my sessions - I'm concentrating on balance and fine tuning my position on the boat: leg to rudder peddle distance and then upper body positioning. I've found that in order to stop the boat from rolling from side to side as I initiate my paddle (and this may sound very, very basic) bracing with feet and hip movement becomes critical - I've never had to analyze this much when paddling an ocean kayak or double as it takes a lot to roll those things. Nevertheless, I am gaining more time on top and less in the water. Now I have to link balance and power strokes to increase speed and do this consistently. So far, I've only been a fair water paddler, noting from others the surfski excels in running down the face of large swell and the like...I can only wait!

Paddling 1:00:00 [2]

Didn't dump at all ;-) now all I have to do is be able to put some power into my stroke and make some decent forward momentum.

biking 1:05:00 [1]

Mtn biking with my 12 yr old at Hartland - his riding is smoother than mine on technical trails and he doesn't flinch at drops. Sheesh. I've got him for uphill climbing and flats and that's about it.

Strength 2:00:00 [2]

A mixture of upper body, core, legs and arms. I was loading and unloading asphalt that I ripped up from my driveway yesterday - loaded into the truck, then unloaded at the local 'asphalt recycling' depot.

Is this considered cross training or a pathetic attempt to keep my attackpoint hours up??? Oh, the moral conundrum! I can tell you I haven't perspired like that since the last time cycled/ran or paddled.

biking 59:01 [3]

To and from ORPC.

Paddling 1:00:00 [2]

More comfortable on the surfski as my balance is improving, but I'm still in the water too much. Buh!
