biking 3:10:21 [4]

Thursday night mtn bike ride with a gonzo crew. TN invited me along.
I should have worn my HR monitor to find out what my new red line is cuz it felt I was being pushed all the time. It was hard riding with my crappy browning out lights and TN lent me his bike mounted light which was the only way I could have continued.

We started out in Esq on pavement and linking up various walking trails and made out way out to Thetis Lake and beyond. I was hanging in there until we hit pavement again popping out by Mossy Road? that links to Ross-Durrance. By the time we hit West Saanich, the paceline was in full force and the horses were dashing to the barn. By the time I got to Interurban, there was no way I could hang onto the pack so I stuffed my ego into my back pocket and made my way back to the start.

We rode some great single track at night and hit many trails I've run in the day time - interesting to note how the lack of light makes the trails just that much more "technical" ;-)

Things to do:

1) get a decent set of lights - for the bike and helmet
2) Bring a crying towel, or
3) Train. (or don't go out with these guys again)
