biking warm up/down 35:00 [2]

warm up - from home to Windsor Park.

biking 31:24 [5]

OB Crit: a Field of 34+ riders in the B group; the race was run with time, not laps: 35 minutes + 5 laps. I flatted when scoping out the route just 5 minutes before the start. Sheesh!

It was a bit sketchy figuring out who could hold a line in this group and I figured I should stay near the top of the pack to keep out of the way some loose riding going on. 3/5 corners were ok on this nearly 1km loop and the other two had sewer covers in the best line or had a pot hole.

I pulled a couple of times and then after a few laps, probably about mid through, the pace was slowing. I broke away but no one followed and I did a couple of laps recovering in the lead while the pack caught up to me. I stayed in about 5 - 6th then the action started with some attacks which I held onto - I figured I'll hold off and wait out the challenges unless someone really pulled away, and if my lungs and legs were still there. The pace was quickening and I was still where I wanted to be when some riders ahead of me went down ~ 6-7 riders. I was able to steer through and kept on however the moto slowed us into caution mode as we rode into the corner - there was the usual road rash but a serious hip injury which led to more 2- 3 laps under caution and leading to the race being stopped as the rider with the hip injury couldn't be moved.

All in all, an ok race, but I would have liked to have finished it. The pack was beginning to separate and we had lapped a couple of riders already. The sprint would have been interesting.

Run 41:21 [1]

Did some orienteering with my kids - L tagged along and had to put up with her older brother throwing pine cones at her while he juggled nav duties.

I was taking it very easy due to my right foot injury: I taped it up before heading out and that gave support for about ten minutes ;-)

The foot didn't react too badly, some increased swelling but not much pain and my gait was ok.

Physio today as well: ultrasound & IMS with massage to break up scar tissue.
