biking race 1:06:01 [5]
ahr:148 max:168

Back to Mt Newton and the hilly crit - did 20 laps and I'm not sure what the total time was - I'm guessing.

I had the usual trouble with getting to the race due to work commitments - jumped into the car and drove (drove!!!! I should have been on the bike and that would have counted as a great warm up) to the race. I had 14 minutes of warm up then right into it.

Hot. The one thing I stuck to today was to hydrate and I started early this morning. I also stuck to my plan to not pull the pack as much as I have and I hung back, although I did pull about 4 laps.

I could feel gravity working against my legs mid way thru and therefore hung back, but then a couple made a break and I set off after them in a half hearted pursuit: no one else followed and I figured buh, let them go - they might blow up in this heat. They didn't. I had a hard run last night in the heat and this might have been a factor, cuz I didn't feel strong on the bike, especially when climbing. I had to get off the saddle more than usual just to give my legs a break.

My sprint at the end was luke warm - I thought I had opened up a decent lead but I was out sprinted within my group of 4. It was nice to stop. Oh, yeah, an uphill sprint of course - was like slo-mo!

Running with the PIH-ers in Mt Doug: 3 laps of various tempo's of I can't remember what length. Hard tho', especially for me getting back into running.
Some steady uphill grunts, and then bursts of downhill.
