Warm up for tne "Condo Cross" at Topaz Park.

Did course set up from 0800 - 1030, then home to help the family out with Thanksgiving dinner prep (actually just home long enough to eat, taste pumpkin pie, and grab gear for race), then back to Topaz Park.

Fast race....this was a course that did not demand technical riding skills. Fitness would translate to speed. I prefer a technical course and not the lungburner style course that crushes the weak and inefficient (aka, me).

I put together the southern half of the course which incorporated most of the technical riding; however the north part comprised of a lot of flat, long sections that paralelled the soccer pitches and thus this turned into a sprinters paradise on grass that begged for attacks.

The first two laps were 'sprints,' typical of X racing. I hung on as best I could, but dropped off and settled into a steady cadence. My gruppo wasn't set up for this type of course and I didn't feel comfortable in my choice of gearing: I was either spinning too fast or under load and didn't have a happy medium.

Anyway, fun race. Weather was great: a little damp and soggy on the ground. The rain was off and on during the beginners through to expert women/masters race, then opened up on the expert men which meant lots of crashes on the slick, off camber sections.

Cool down.....Hardly worth mentioning, but hey....
