Orienteering race (Minor) 48:21 [5] 6.92 km (6:59 / km) +350m 5:35 / km
ahr:173 max:183 shoes: Sauchony Guide 7

That map is not called Heart Rate Hills for nothing. An average heart rate of 173 for me is quite high on most any run, but in the bush that is ridiculously high. Was maybe 20 meters off most controls. I somehow managed to run between the creek and #8 all the way to the watercourse to the east of the control. I have no idea how I missed it as that area was quite open. Almost came unstuck coming in to #20. Ran past the wreck on the track and then the track seemed to disappear. Slowed way down and tried to figure out exactly where on the side of the spur I was, but couldn't figure it out. Was reasonably sure that I needed to keep going which turned out well. Ended up being a fair bit above the control.

Running long (15K) 1:12:58 [4] 15.0 km (4:52 / km) +250m 4:29 / km

Wickham--Nobbies--Cooks Hill--Bar Beach--Dixon Park--and Return

Was absolutely perfect weather. My goal was 5 minute Ks and on the flat and down-hill I had to slow myself up. Up-hill was hard work of course. I think I've got a sub 60 City2Surf in the bag (touch wood I don't injure myself). May have to revise my target to a sub 58.

Strength Training (Iron Strength) 26:00 [4]

2 or 3 sets of everything with K8. The jump lunges and single leg squats were killer!

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3] 3.0 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: Saucony Guide 5 Orange

Running intervals 37:14 [5] 6.0 km (6:12 / km)
ahr:155 max:182 shoes: Saucony Guide 5 Orange

Intervals with the orienteering crew at Glendale. 2x(1K, 800m, 600m, 400m, 200m) with 1-2 min rest. My times were quite consistent with the second set only being about a second or two behind.

Bit of a scouting run with K8 to see the bush and look at possible control locations.
