Walking 45:18 [1] 3.65 km (12:25 / km)

Recovery walk, longest so far; 1 lap and 2 half-laps of Hyde Park, plus there and back, plus diversion for coffee.

Note

Out of hospital now after TURP. Seems to have been successful as I'm now pissing normally. A bit sore, and not allowed to do much for 4-6 weeks. Walking is ok, but nothing that puts my core abdominals under any sort of strain. No lifting, no running, cycling, or gym/exercise stuff. The sort of fast walking that I'm used to is probably out as well, although I've been told to gradually build up after two weeks.

Don't normally log walking except for longer bushwalks, but guess I'll put some in now to monitor the build-up.

Road cycling 2:03:41 [3] 42.55 km (2:54 / km)
shoes: Bike: Beemer Auto

West Coast ride with PP. Had to detour through Kings Park at the end as the Mounts Bay Rd path was closed due to the Perth Marathon.

Last ride for who knows how long - rescheduled TURP operation is tomorrow.

Road cycling 1:21:22 [3] 32.77 km (2:29 / km)
shoes: Bike: Beemer Auto

Bassendean ride, decided to use Railway Parade as the level crossing at Bassendean was closed, then couldn't get back across to the path as the next crossing was also closed, then Railway Pde itself was closed so had to detour before I was able to cross back at Bayswater - serves me right I suppose.

Bassendean ride, headwind going out, the wind dropped a bit but still a nice fast return.

Note

Didn't make it to Greenmount, no point really as the knee is still not good for running, OK for cycling though.

Note
(injured)

Subsequent to the fall at Warranine, the knee is still bruised so haven't been keen to run, and the grazes on the hand are not clearing up so bike riding is also too painful.

Have been walking Chas' dog 2 x 2-5km twice a day.

Orienteering race 49:34 [4] 4.8 km (10:20 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 2nd pair

H3 course at Warranine, Day 1. GPS 5.72km.

Most of the course was on a pretty open part of the map, but the first 4 controls were in thicker forest. A bit slow pushing through parts of this, especially to 4. Went a bit wide at 5, couldn't match the bare rock on the map with the ground. Same deal at 12 where I couldn't match the boulders with the map. At 13 I aimed for the gully above the control, but went down an earlier one, coming out too low on the channel. Running along it I fell, losing some skin and blood off one hand and arm, and bashing my knee. Had to walk slowly for a while before jogging through the last two easy controls.

Got the arm patched up, but had to do it again at home from my own, better equipped 1st aid box. No blood on the knee, but a haemotoma which has now abated, however the other side of the knee has ballooned out, and can only walk with difficulty, so won't be making it for Day 2.

Road cycling 2:18:02 [3] 49.99 km (2:46 / km)
shoes: Bike: Beemer Auto

Around the river with Friday group.

Thursday Jun 1, 2017 #

Road cycling 3:18:27 [3] 75.7 km (2:37 / km)
shoes: Bike: Beemer Auto

Mt Henry, around the river, then a bit extra visiting Penrhos College, back via Burswood to check on progress of the new footbridge. Not much as far as I can see.

Extensive smoke haze from DPAW burn-offs, took it easy not wanting to do any lung-busting efforts. Wind Easterly but gentler than the past 3-4 rides.

Burke Drive closed between Roberts Rd and Point Walter Rd, had to use the path alngside Burke Drive, then around past the Point Walter cafe and up the other side.
