Orienteering race 1:08:51 [4] **** 7.4 km (9:18 / km)
spiked:6/12c

H3 course at Peterdine, actual distance on gps was 8.61km. Not a good day - mistakes at 2, 3, 9 and 10. 6 ( a water control) was in the wrong place - found where it should have been but didn't find the control. After searching for a few minutes went on, but missed having a drink on an unusually long H3. Probably lost 2min at 2, .30sec at 3, 4-5 minutes at 6, 3-4 minutes at 9, and 2 mins at 10 (by 9, I was very thirsty).

Running hills 45:32 [4] 9.5 km (4:48 / km)

Reabold hills run. Very quiet this morning, hardly saw a soul. Noticed a large infestation of Pattersons Curse next to the Camel Lake trail - will be all over the park in a couple of years if they don't do something about it.

Thursday Aug 28, 2008 #

Running 47:19 [3] 9.0 km (5:15 / km)

Usual Bridges-Heirisson run.

Tuesday Aug 26, 2008 #

Running 39:35 [4] 8.0 km (4:57 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT 2130

Kings Park lap.

Orienteering race 46:35 [4] **** 3.9 km (11:57 / km) +160m 9:55 / km
spiked:9/10c

OY race at Mt Dale, short courses as very slow running. Actual GPS distance 4.82km. Good course with a 1.5km long leg - thibnk I picked a good route, except for losing 3-5 minutes trying to find a way across a very overgrown creek. Rest of course was good, except for a minor hesitation on one control near the end.

Running hills 43:06 [4] 9.5 km (4:32 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT 2130

Reabold hills run, pretty cold again.

Thursday Aug 21, 2008 #

Running 47:43 [3] 9.0 km (5:18 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT 2130

Bridges & Heirisson run, biting cold Easterly, saw a couple of kangaroos on the island - first sighting for a month or two.

Tuesday Aug 19, 2008 #

Running 40:24 [4] 8.0 km (5:03 / km)

Kings Park run - pretty hectic day, arrived late and ran by myself.

Sunday Aug 17, 2008 #

MTB Orienteering race 1:13:00 [4] 15.0 km (4:52 / km)
shoes: Bike: GT Avalanche

MTBO race at Langford Park. A lot of single track, very slow going for me. At least I didn't fall off for once.

Running hills 44:21 [4] 9.5 km (4:40 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT 2130

Reabold hills run, a bit warmer today but found breathing difficult. No sign of a cold, but my nose just seemed to be blocked and I couldn't clear it.

The powers that be have closed off one of my favourite little hills - only 50m but the gradient and soft sand made it a struggle towards the end of 10km. The view over the ocean at the top was great too. They've planted a few hundred trees there. You can still reach the top via what used to be my downhill, but that has a smoother gradient, and they've limestoned it.

Running 39:13 [3] 7.0 km (5:36 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT 2130

Usual Bridges run - did not do the Heirisson section. Usually on a run day (Tues/Thurs) I try to have lunch by 12.30, as I am always very sluggish when not on an empty stomach. Today I had a school at Jorgensen (and probably walked 5km) and was unable to have lunch until 1.45 - and probably had one slice of bread too many as well. On therun I felt very heavy all the way, hence the shorter option.

Running 41:07 [3] 8.0 km (5:08 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT 2130

Kings Park, taking it easy with a slight ankle sprain from the stuffed up 3rd leg at Sunday's event.

Orienteering race 49:01 [4] **** 5.8 km (8:27 / km)
spiked:7/11c

H3 course in OY event at Mt Billy, not a great run, 5 mins down on Anthea. Way off with the compass to No. 1 - 100m to the left and 1 minute or so lost. I then went very wide to the right on long leg to No. 3. Was intending to go right of the straight line, but ended up 400m too far to the right. From there I could have taken an easy track option, but stupidly tried to run straight to the control and started looking too early. Lost at least 5 mins on this leg. After that I had a reasonable run, except for getting ahead of myself at 9 and heading towards 11. Fortunately 10 was just a bit South of the line from 9 to 11, so guess I only lost about a minute.

Saturday Aug 9, 2008 #

Running hills 43:01 [4] 9.5 km (4:32 / km)

Reabold run, freezing wind even though delayed start until 8.30am. Bit shorter than usual, took a different way back to the car.

Thursday Aug 7, 2008 #

Running 40:11 [3] 7.0 km (5:44 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT 2130

Around the bridges from ABC building in East Perth, omitted Heirisson lap as I was quite sore. Very slow run.

Tuesday Aug 5, 2008 #

Running 39:41 [4] 8.0 km (4:58 / km)

Usual Kings Park lap - surprised to get under 40 quite easily despite missing a lot of training recently.
