Running 34:25 [3] 6.15 km (5:36 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150

Hyde Park run, usual 2 + 2 laps. 24C and about 90% humidity.

Sunday Jan 30, 2011 #

Road cycling 1:30:16 [3] 34.1 km (2:39 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Bassendean ride with Binnsey - pretty slow, hot and windy.

Saturday Jan 29, 2011 #

Orienteering race 59:00 [5] 9.7 km (6:05 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150

Metro Series race at Wellard. Temp. reached 40C before a storm dumped 8mm of rain (over 20mm in some suburbs) on Perth. The event was run with about 90% humidity and 30+C - it was like running in an oven with a built-in shower. Lost a considerable amount of brain function, despite walking a lot, consequently my route was at least 1km longer than optimum. Well down near the bottom this week.

Thursday Jan 27, 2011 #

Running 1:02:40 [3] 10.71 km (5:51 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

Reabold run, very similar to last week, just slightly longer, and slower. Very hot - 33C when I started, and still over 30 at the end.

Tuesday Jan 25, 2011 #

Running 42:30 [4] 7.9 km (5:23 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

Kings Park run, struggled by myself again, same time as usual, but felt much less fatigued afterwards. Not humid today.

Sunday Jan 23, 2011 #

Road cycling 2:17:01 [3] 52.79 km (2:36 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Around the river via Nedlands/Mosman route - same as last week.

Saturday Jan 22, 2011 #

Road cycling 1:30:49 [3] 41.5 km (2:11 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Elite Racing cycles ride.

Orienteering race 53:33 [4] ** 9.65 km (5:33 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150

Metro Series race at Bassendean, route probably around 600m off optimum, so the course was pretty long. Very humid, and was pretty stuffed at the finish - all good training though, and still in the top half of the field. Route comments are on routegadget.

Thursday Jan 20, 2011 #

Running 1:00:38 [3] 10.55 km (5:45 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

Long run at Reabold, avoiding the longest and/or steepest hills. Still quite a few smaller ups and downs, plus a couple of long, gradual slogs.

Tuesday Jan 18, 2011 #

Monday Jan 17, 2011 #

Sunday Jan 16, 2011 #

Thursday Jan 13, 2011 #

Running 57:32 [3] 10.26 km (5:36 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150

Attempt at the Bridges/Heirisson run, didn't turn out quite as expected. When I got to the Burswood side of the Farmer Freeway/Rail bridge, the path was flooded due to an exceptional high tide that I hadn't been aware of. It looked at least shin deep, and I didn't fancy doing the remaining 9km with wet shoes and socks so I turned around.

Went down to the Causeway on the Trinity side instead, past hundreds of cars there for the Big Bash (no doubt the cricket tragics including GB, Richard, Juffy & Tooms were all there). Between the river and Trinity was flooded as well, had to long-jump 1.5m across the creek that is usually dry. Then did a complete lap of Heirisson, half expecting water on the tracks there as well, but there wasn't any. Probably lucky the Island wasn't closed though, as they have started preparing for the AD fireworks - building a big pontoon. Saw the roos (or 4 of them anyway), went back the same way via Trinity, long jump not so good as was tiring by this time and only cleared the water by about 1cm.

Tuesday Jan 11, 2011 #

Running 41:32 [3] 7.94 km (5:14 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

Kings Park run, tRicky on my shoulder, very hot (34C). Fastest time for 5 weeks, maybe I'm getting closer to the magic 40 if/when the weather cools off a bit and someone is there to push me.

Monday Jan 10, 2011 #

Running 34:23 [3] 6.15 km (5:35 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150

Two outside laps of Hyde Park (2x1.6km) and two inside laps (2x800m), plus there and back from home. Fairly boring run, but can do it from home and half of it is soft surface.

Sunday Jan 9, 2011 #

Road cycling 2:03:57 [3] 47.21 km (2:38 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Around the river, windy again.

Saturday Jan 8, 2011 #

Orienteering race 44:16 [4] 7.5 km (5:54 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X Talon 212

Tactical error from the start, where I had planned to go North, but made a spur of the moment decision to head for 18 and get away from the crowds. Didn't even think about then heading South which would have been the best option, instead made another mistake by going to 19 before 2 when it would have been better going straight to 2 and picking up 19 on the way back between 4 & 5. Always knew I was going to leave out 10 and 21, and finally decided 12 was the other one to drop.

The X-Talons worked well on the sand, felt like I was skipping over the firmer bits, and with their light weight it was much easier to lift the feet out of the deeper sand.

Thursday Jan 6, 2011 #

Running 48:28 [3] 8.9 km (5:27 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150

Tuesday Jan 4, 2011 #

Running 42:32 [4] 7.95 km (5:21 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

Kings Park run, very hot and noone to pace so time was around expectation.

Sunday Jan 2, 2011 #

Road cycling 2:00:48 [3] 47.24 km (2:33 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Around the river. Windy.

Saturday Jan 1, 2011 #

Running 1:09:04 [3] 11.48 km (6:01 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150

Kings Park sand tracks, took it nice and easy after only 5 hrs sleep and a few drops too much of wine last night. Finally back to 4 runs in a week!
