Event: UWA

Orienteering race 19:58 [4] 2.5 km (7:59 / km)
ahr:134 max:143 spiked:8/14c shoes: Inov8 X Talon 212

NavDash race at UWA. Went to 5 and 4 before 3, didn't read the lines correctly. Had to go back to 4 and 5, probably an extra 500m. A few other wobbles.

Friday Mar 30, 2012 #

Road cycling 2:22:31 [3] 57.9 km (2:28 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Same ride as previous Friday - Mt Henry-Freo-Swanbourne-Dancing Goat.

Thursday Mar 29, 2012 #

Running 54:15 [3] 9.18 km (5:55 / km)
ahr:132 max:159 shoes: Asics GT2160

Hyde Park laps/8s. Tried to run below 125bpm but there was something wrong with either the HRM or my heart - on the first lap HR jumped to over 150, and couldn't get it below 140 for another lap. It then varied between 135-145 for another lap. Finally settled down and read 125-128 for the last couple of laps. I suspect it may have something to do with the major power line running through the park. Certainly didn't seem like my heart was ever beating that fast.

Running 42:50 [4] 7.97 km (5:22 / km)
ahr:130 max:140 shoes: Asics GT2160

Kings Park lap.

Event: Mt Billy

Orienteering race 1:01:19 [4] 5.2 km (11:48 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330

H3 at Mt Billy, giving running commentary to Ron M, stopped a few times to show him subtle features on the map. Lost a bit of time at 4 and 8 which were cliffs only 100m apart on the same steep slope. In both cases I couldn't identify features in the 100m before the control, and mentioned this to Ron. At several other controls I got to the circle but couldn't see the feature the control was on, but Ron must have eagle eyes because he quickly spotted the flag every time. He's pretty fit too!

GPS distance was 6.3km. Reasonable navigation for first time in the bush since October!

Road cycling 2:07:30 [3] 48.1 km (2:39 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Around the river the other way. Good av. speed until Port Beach, after which it was a real struggle into the ENE'ly.

Friday Mar 23, 2012 #

Road cycling 2:24:36 [3] 57.1 km (2:32 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Around the river incl. Mt Henry, then up the coast to Swanbourne, 15-min break to get my card marked at the Dancing Goat. Horrible NM'ly - between SW and NW was OK, any other direction had a howling headwind. Used the gps on my phone for the first time, despite the warnings that come up when you start it, seemed pretty accurate to me.

Next ride should take me over 5000 miles on the CtoC, already over 8000km but can't figure how to get that to display in the log.

Thursday Mar 22, 2012 #

Running 49:34 [3] 9.2 km (5:23 / km)
shoes: Asics GT2160

Hyde Park laps and figure 8s - 2km x 4 + 1.2km there and back.

Tuesday Mar 20, 2012 #

Running 42:48 [3] 7.9 km (5:25 / km)
shoes: Asics GT2160

Kings Park lap.

Sunday Mar 18, 2012 #

Road cycling 3:12:00 [3] 72.6 km (2:39 / km)

Freeway-Freo ride.

Saturday Mar 17, 2012 #

Orienteering 22:47 [4] 3.8 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

Waking up controls at Curtin NavDash, basically the long course plus 3 short controls that were close to the optimum route.

Forgot my sprinting shoes so had to run in what I was wearing - a long-retired and pretty threadbare pair of Asics.

Tuesday Mar 13, 2012 #

Running 42:42 [3] 7.9 km (5:24 / km)
shoes: Asics GT2160

KP lap

Saturday Mar 10, 2012 #

Road cycling 2:25:00 [3] 61.6 km (2:21 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Aborted Freeway-Freo ride, chain came right over the BCR just after turning onto Russell Rd and twisted into two kinks as I tried to put it back on. Got going again after about 7-8 minutes, but decided to just return back up the Freeway as it was already hot and we both forgot our money so wouldn't have been able to make the usual Blueberry Danish stop in Freo.

Friday Mar 9, 2012 #

Road cycling 2:16:34 [3] 56.4 km (2:25 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Around the river including Mt Henry bridge.

Thursday Mar 8, 2012 #

Running 43:08 [3] 8.06 km (5:21 / km)
shoes: Asics GT2160

Didn't feel like driving anywhere, or battling peak hour traffic running to Yokine, so even though I hate doing laps, jogged down to Hyde Park where I discovered that one lap of the lakes followed by a figure 8 around them is almost exactly 2km (~850m + ~1150). Faster than the last few Tuesday runs, although Thursday is meant to be my easy day.

Tuesday Mar 6, 2012 #

Running 44:48 [3] 7.9 km (5:40 / km)
shoes: Asics GT2160
