Reabold, same run as 2 weeks ago. Felt quite seedy when I got up, after an excess of wine and food last night, but as soon as I started running I felt really good. Started to drizzle just after starting, and then absolutely poured for 5 minutes as I was going around the pines. Supposed high-tech Asics singlet seemed to be fine at first, but must have reached a point of total saturation, and it suddenly felt as though a giant hand was pressing hard on my chest, driving all the air out of my lungs. Tried wringing it out, no good, it kept clinging to me until about 10 minutes after the rain stopped. Despite this, I reached the EHDP (extra hill decision point) in 38.30, so no alternative, and it felt extra tough today.
Recent improvement in fitness, and the fact that HM is having a very inconsistent set of races at the Scottish 6 days (
http://www.scottish6days.com/results/2009/overall/...) gives me a little more confidence that I can beat him at one or more of the coming three Aussie Championships - the middle distance seems a good possibility as I like goldmining terrain, maybe the sprint as well.
