Running hills 51:41 [4] 10.0 km (5:10 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT2130 (new)

Reabold, same run as 2 weeks ago. Felt quite seedy when I got up, after an excess of wine and food last night, but as soon as I started running I felt really good. Started to drizzle just after starting, and then absolutely poured for 5 minutes as I was going around the pines. Supposed high-tech Asics singlet seemed to be fine at first, but must have reached a point of total saturation, and it suddenly felt as though a giant hand was pressing hard on my chest, driving all the air out of my lungs. Tried wringing it out, no good, it kept clinging to me until about 10 minutes after the rain stopped. Despite this, I reached the EHDP (extra hill decision point) in 38.30, so no alternative, and it felt extra tough today.

Recent improvement in fitness, and the fact that HM is having a very inconsistent set of races at the Scottish 6 days (http://www.scottish6days.com/results/2009/overall/...) gives me a little more confidence that I can beat him at one or more of the coming three Aussie Championships - the middle distance seems a good possibility as I like goldmining terrain, maybe the sprint as well.

Running 48:43 [3] 9.0 km (5:25 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT2130 (new)

Bridges-Heirisson run - late start again and very dark. A large, yellow moon came up as I was going around the Island, but too low to give me much light. No orienteering this weekend, so something tells me that silly endurance sport is happening again.

All these late starts are down to Binnsey, who has started running again after a long period off with Plantar F. Instead of leaving home at 5, it's closer to 6 by the time she's ready to go. Should be ok next week, as she's going to start intervals at McGillivray again on Thursdays.

Running hills 42:23 [4] 6.2 km (6:50 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT2130 (new)

Ran part of the Medium course at MTBO event - basically around the back of Goat Farm, back down to the quarry off Coulston Rd, then across to the NP boundary, up a very steep hill (passed loads of MTBOers pushing their bikes), across the road at the top and down the other side, then back to the Goat Farm. Similar effort/distance/time to a H3 orienteering course.
