Orienteering race 22:40 [4] 2.0 km (11:20 / km)
ahr:135 max:169 shoes: X-Talon 190

Short course at Garvey Park NavDash event. GPS 2.77km. A bit slow to 1, went around to the left on 2-3, and backed out to 4. Wondered if people might jump the meter or so gap between two peninsulas, not knowing that it would be the same as jumping over a strip of garden, ie illegal. Went left to 5, probably a little longer but avoiding running through the Start. Went left again to 6 and found the gap in the green to attack from. Ran directly to the bridge NW of 6, and soon found the path along the drain bank (wondered why the path was a solid line, but insprection at home shows the map to be a poor quality print that has bled out the gaps). Found 10 before 7 and attacked from there. 7-11 pretty straightforward, and went back to the bridge W of 12, then straight to 13 (green wasn't noticeable). Right from 15-16 (avoiding the Start yet again). Completely ran out of puff on this leg, having been out well over the regulation 12-15 mins. Recovered a little bit to raise slightly more than a jog from 16 to the finish. Enjoyed the course even if it was overlong.

Orienteering 26:03 [3] 2.9 km (8:59 / km)
ahr:132 max:175 shoes: X-Talon 190

Long course at Garvey Park. GPS 3.74km. Took a break of around an hour before tackling this, and ran it at a mostly easy jog, even walking a little on the very long leg 5-6. Wondered if anyone went other than right on this and the other long leg 18-19. Quite enjoyable nonetheless.

Can't put my hands on a previous Garvey map at the moment, but I'm pretty sure it had North lines - not that I needed them, but some people probably would.
