setting advanced course controls at Harbin for Orunner's meet tomorrow. Took about 45 minutes to set the controls, then a good 20 minutes checking out some map anomalies near one of them. Plus some time making random tracks in the deep snow to add a little more confusion :-)

pre-dawn run mostly on rural roads, with maybe 1/2 mile of trail and field. The NWS had been predicting a winter storm warning beginning at 5 am, and the first flakes began to fall around 4:45, while I was still 2.5 to 3 miles out. By the time I got into the last mile, the roads were snow covered and starting to get slippery. Beautiful quiet night with almost nobody out and about.

A good night for listening for owls: quiet with almost no wind, temps a little above freezing. spent 30 minutes to an hour in each of 5 atlas blocks & recorded calling barred owls in 3 of them. Ohio Breeding Bird Atlas.
