orienteering warm up/down 10:00 [1] *

setting up game cameras at 2 controls, visiting a control that had supposedly disappeared overnight - to find that the replacement control was in the wrong place, and the original was still where it was supposed to be.

orienteering race 1:56:02 [4] *** 7.6 mi (15:16 / mi)

Score-O at St Patrick's Park. 2 hour time limit. Got 27 of the 30 controls. Probably could have got one more, either 72 or 64, but was cutting it a bit too close on time. Lost a couple minutes finding 82 (small indistinct clearing in the middle of green area); at least 2-3 minutes finding 70 (dot knoll in a thicket), and a minute or more on 65 (another dot knoll in a thicket). If I had been completely clean on those, I should have been able to clear the course.

Lost another few seconds talking with a neighboring property owner who was questioning my right to enter the private land adjacent to his (for which we definitely had permission), and taking a few extra seconds to let his dogs give me a good sniff.

Running a trail with between 11 and 12 minutes left, figured I would try to get 64 if I was at the attack point with under 10 minutes remaining, when something (yellow jacket?) stung my left ear. I probably had enough time to get 64, but with the distraction of the ear, and trying to pop a benadryl with no water while running, I didn't want to risk it - too bad, that would have moved me from 3rd place into second. Anyway, as I write this, my swollen left ear lobe would be the pride and joy of any Ferengi!
