Orienteering!
QOC local event at Fountainhead West on a gorgeous day. The baby hadn't slept well at all after the flights from Montana, so we were all a little out of it this morning, but got our act together enough for both Alli and me to get to run our courses, and for Inara and Barnacle to have a good time at the event.
I ran blue and felt like I had a solid, if slow, performance. Looking at the splits, I lost over a minute on 18 when I changed my route halfway through the leg to avoid crossing the river. Weak. Also, 15-second bobbles on 5, 15, and 16, so not bad altogether. We all got properly threshed by Lacho, who was still hung over from his 40th birthday party the night before. I edged out a close second place ahead of Joseph Barrett. I think last week's skiing helped me feel stronger on the hills, but I still have no speed to speak of.
After the course I hung out at the finish chasing Inara while Alli ran her brown course.
It was great to catch up with folks at the finish, especially Turner, who was on a brief break from his demanding first year at VMI.
