nice paddle in Lake BG from ANU. felt like the first paddle in that boat that I have actually been able to get some power down and move quite well.

Relay champs - 2nd leg

went out about 4min down on the lead in around 10th after John ran a solid first leg for us. was pretty pumped for a good run and felt great taking off. kept my cool and nailed the first few controls. towards the end of the first third of the course i made a couple of small ~20s mistakes but had passed a few people so felt good. caught another couple and then made another mistake, ~30s a bit before the spectator but thought i had glimpsed Blair in front so was keen to keep pushing. half way through the last loop i caught Blair and his pack of Bradshaw and Todkill and went straight through them. felt pretty good going straight through people today.

shame Simon didnt quite have the finish, but he must have run bloody fast early in the course.

Orienteering race (Oz Champs) 2:00:00 [4] 15.8 km (7:36 / km) +160m 7:14 / km
shoes: Brooks Cascadia 4

started real well, then a little sloppy as i picked up a few people and a pack was created. then the long leg i ran off the front of the pack before having a bit of a brain explosion and didnt know where i was. relocated real well, perhaps lucky and only lost 2min or so. then just went weird. didnt run real hard to the next and then lost another couple minutes - i dont know what was going on in my head. then regathered myself and thought i ran pretty well right to the highest point of the map. then small mistake in the rock where i didnt understand the map at all, thought it was pretty crap, then followed lorenzo and we completely ballsed up. i walked the relocation and ended up losing 4min or so. feet were pretty painful by this point and i just didnt want to run any more, so i jogged and even walked significant amounts back to the finish (finishing the course). gave-up, wasted. i dont know what happened.

just not quite with it.

had a reasonably clean race, little sloppy early and one mistake on 14 with the funny mapped fence. was a bit shocked by the map right at the start and almost made a mistake on one trying to adjust to the scale. probably slowed down a bit too much when i caught Martin Peat. never really got going again. but the whole race i never really went for it. was pretty scared about ribs and maybe this is why i never really got going. still 5th is alright, just disappointed i was so far behind 4th. should have been much much closer

a decent paddle today, actually covered a reasonable distance. nice and calm on the lake

Note

well 3 or 4 weeks ago everything was lookin real good for nationals. but cant believe how interrupted the last month of training has been. nevertheless think i am in reasonable form. see how i cope with the heat, navigating for long period and dealing with pressure.

Paint ball this morning.

among others, coped one in the crown jewels, and one in the ribs which is making life difficult. hopefully just bruised and not a cracked rib or anything.

Kayaking 52:00 [3]

tough very windy paddle on Lake BG. Can't believe I didnt fall out, definitely getting more comfortable but conditions were pretty horrible for parts of the paddle. there was a small craft warning out on the lake!

went from boat club around Black Mtn Peninsula into river in ANU and back. ribs a bit sore but manangeable

Ran the ASC Galaxy Sprint course from earlier in the year which I missed. Thought it was quite fun.

Ran 14'20 at pretty close to top speed, held some in reserve but probably lost 30-40s out on the course. Ribs were a bit tender, especially at the start and up and down any significant height changes.

Had a 10min jog and then re-ran the course in 13'20.

DHs stole my wallet and phone out of the car. When I called to cancel my cc within a couple of hours, they had already spenf $1300 at BigW. Hope they like the tv?
