Road Cycling 56:06 [3] 35.44 km (1:35 / km) +41m 1:34 / km

It was a stormy windy day and it was a hard decision to turn up as it was sure to piss down rain and I hate riding in the rain. But the storms seemed to miss us and 12 riders that turned up had a good handicap race. The 5 of us in B grade worked hard on the first lap and I felt like I was struggling badly. The 2nd lap wasn't too bad as the others tired a little. By the third lap we were catching C grade and got them with 3km to go. The pace eased a bit coming into the finish and I did my best to hold back from my usual early lead out. When Dave Shanaghan went I jumped on his wheel and pushed hard to stay there. With about 100m to go I made my move and passed him and hoped that Roland wasn't on my wheel. He wasn't and I finished first, my first victory for a while. It was probably the only good bunch sprint of my life, not that there was a big bunch or anything. To everyone that picks on my yellow roady- its not about the bike!

Kayaking 53:00 [3] 8.0 km (6:38 / km)
shoes: Fenn Millennium

afternoon paddle after working at the Summit. The lake was about 1m lower than prior to XPD and the river was about 1m higher. Result- almost rapids at the river/lake junction and very strong river current. Paddled up it to the bridge but was scared at some points I might be watched backwards and get stuck in the willows without a PFD. A bit of a rush in the end.

Late morning run after a sleep in. Achilles not as good in these shoes but didn't really notice it much after first 5km. Felt like I was doing it hard.

MTB Cycling 52:36 [3] 19.7 km (2:40 / km) +362m 2:27 / km

afternoon ride to Thorpdale for a pepper steak pie and a coffee at the new bakery. Not bad, I'll stop there again.

Afternoon paddle on a windy pondage. Probably picked the nicest part of the day though.

I got kicked out of my place last night by a late change to Kathryn's hen's weekend. So Duncan and I headed to Traralgon for some beers and to check out the local night life. Gee its been a while since I got home at 3am (WOC banquets excluded).

short paddle before cycling race. Would have liked to have done more but no time.

Road Cycling 1:19:10 [3] 47.6 km (1:40 / km) +58m 1:39 / km

I got a one hour massage from Nenet today- 30mins on each calve. I know they're big but that's just ridiculous!

The weather was pretty good and while I knew my body wouldn't like it I couldn't resist going to the local road race.

Post run Achilles squeakiness levels greatly increased which is disappointing :-(

Kayaking 2:02:00 [3] 16.5 km (7:24 / km)
shoes: Red7 double

From Sorrento with Kathryn, Damon, Fleur, Kim, Dave and Mattias from Team SILVA. The wind really whipped up on the drive there and the first part was hard work. The words "Too soon" came to mind many times as Kathryn and I batttled into the gail. It wasn't really what I envisaged when I signed up for this session on friday when it was 32 degress and no wind as I was walking around the pine plantations of Stockdale.
We didn't make it to Pope's eye, I think it was a bit further west. Turned north with the wind and checked out the seal colony at Chinamen's Hat. Then back to Sorento. The downwind parts were fun. We spent more time eating pies and pastries than we did paddling but still nice to head somewhere new.

quick morning ride to test the achilles. Had to test the bike shoes- LG shoes bad, old Specialized very good as they put no pressure on the achilles.

slept:9.0 (injured) (rest day)

Stunning day in Gippsland and I'd love to run or ride but my achilles is still swollen and sore. Nearly a week since the finish and I'm getting itchy feet. Might try and swim tomorrow. But for now its just more coffee and cake.
