Running long 1:38:19 [3] 18.84 km (5:13 / km) +381m 4:44 / km
shoes: Saucony Xodus 3.0

Barringo loop with Kathryn followed Naugton Road loop on my own. I wanted to run the mountain loop but got outvoted by Kathryn, and the scary cold wet probably snowy weather. Didn't really feel that great but got some miles in the legs. Liking the new Saucony Xodus. Good offroad and pretty good on road too and nice and light.

shoes: Chiru Radium

Met Sam (best cyclist in the valley also on day off) at Tyers and rode to Walhalla and back. It was a pretty good morning, not too cold, not too windy. Definitely feel a bit weak on the bike at the moment, it should have felt easier than this. I was pretty stuffed by 3hr mark. Good company though, will probably do more training with Sam now he is training for melbourne ironman and has started running.

Road Cycling 2:16:54 [3] 65.54 km (2:05 / km) +348m 2:02 / km
shoes: Chiru Radium

Beautiful sunny day, probably should have made more use of my day off but finally got on the bike in the arvo. Rode to Mirboo North, coffee, then Boolarra, Churchill, Morwell, Traralgon. Well and truly dark by the time I arrived in Traralgon and only had 5mins warm up before Harriers run.

Running race 20:49 [3] 5.43 km (3:50 / km) +43m 3:41 / km
shoes: Nike Air Span +6

I would have liked more warm up and didn't really like the feel or running hard. I don't think I've been lactic since the mass start orienteering in NZ almost 1 month ago. Duncan ran past after 500m and I thought my goal was just to do the minimum amount to beat him. I felt pretty ordinary on the flats along the bottom of the course but ok on the hill. The whole second lap I could hear a few guys close behind but couldn't push any harder to increase the gap. In the end the time was actually better than it felt like for the course.

Running 16:42 [3] 3.02 km (5:32 / km) +27m 5:18 / km
shoes: Nike Air Span +6

cool down with Sam Beveridge.

6 AM

MTB Cycling 47:24 [3] 18.19 km (2:36 / km) +112m 2:32 / km
shoes: Cannondale Rush

early morning commute to work. Cold but could have been worse and at least there was no frost or fog. Quite enjoyed dodging the kangaroos. And riding along the edge of the pondage felt quite warm and peaceful. And the 2 x 12hr days haven't been too bad either.

6 PM

MTB Cycling 59:20 [3] 17.65 km (3:22 / km) +354m 3:03 / km
shoes: Cannondale Rush

Evening commute home from work after my first 12hr shift. Still on training but this week we are doing 12hr days instead of 8. Rode home to prove to myself that I could after a full day. Riding back at 6am tomorrow will be the real challenge though.

Road Cycling 1:23:46 [3] 36.84 km (2:16 / km) +719m 2:04 / km
shoes: Chiru Radium

Managed to pull myself off the couch and push aside the hangover for the first ride on my new road bike- the Chiru Radium. Weighing in at cool 7.0kg it is quite different to the old yellow cannondale. The SRAM Force double tap shifter take a bit of getting used to. Need a few more rides and perhaps a race or two to really make a judgement on the bike. But if feels bloody fast standing up and pumping out of a corner at fast speed.

Running long 1:26:30 [3] 16.36 km (5:17 / km) +622m 4:27 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 11

lunchtime run after a nice birthday breakfast of French toast, and followed by my birthday cheesecake.
Legs feeling pretty good, but a few tight niggles. Chest, throat, flu symptoms pretty much gone too so I might actually start doing some proper training for the first time in a while. Though next week I'm working 3 x12hr shifts so that won't leave much time for training.
