Orienteering 39:53 [3] 5.68 km (7:01 / km) +274m 5:40 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 280

Start ok, but then lost time at 6 (1.03mins by winsplits), and then tried to run to 16 instead of 9 on the long leg which wasted a bit of time. Got caught by Craney at 11 where I again lost time. Then we raced to 12 ok but pushed too hard to 13 and got lost. I relocated quicker and was first back to the finish but picked up only 45secs so he still beat me.
Jules won in 35mins which was pretty impressive. David, Simon, Shep, Craney all beat me but they ran pretty well.

6- 1.03mins
11- 36secs
13- 42secs

MTBO at Stanley, just up the road from Beechworth. 60 min score course with 1 and 2 pointers. Had an ok ride and was picking up controls right to the end so the route was probably ok. Ended up with the win, and a 6 pack of Beechworth Brewery beer. Sweet prize.

Christmas 5-days- Day 3- Kangaroo Crossing
5th, 5.32min behind JD.
Started off ok, catching Muz at 2. lost him on the way to 5. Surprised Simon caught me so quickly on the way to 7. We drifted off near the control to the spur to the right and lost about 45secs. Then I was just behind Simon to 8 and 9 but just couldn't stay with him and lost sight straight after 9. I took the lower route choice to 10, mostly because I'd run that way a few times in the Vic Champs. Wasn't very happy with the way I ran that leg, and was unsure where I was until I hit the track. Hit the control ok, but lost a lot of time to Jules who took the high road to the right. 11-13 were ok but then hesitated at 14 when there was a large 1.5m unmapped boulder right on the red line and I then just didn't see the flag- lost 30secs here. Finished off ok and 5th place was about where I deserved to be. Just disappointed I had no chance of staying with Simon.

MTB Cycling 1:45:23 [3] 41.76 km (2:31 / km) +1073m 2:14 / km

afternoon ride up Mt Buffalo with Muz and David Andersson on roadies and me and Mats Troeng on mtb. Muz and I set the pace for the first 10km, before the Swedes took to the front and hurt us Aussies, all while carrying on a conversation in Swedish so obviously doing it easy. Great day for a ride and always love the view from Buffalo.

Christmas 5-days- Day 2- Barambogie
Course cancelled due to misplaced control.

Route to 1 felt pretty bad, and looks even worse on the GPS. Didn't give the green enough credit, and it was way worse than it looked on the map. I was pretty hesitant heading to 4 but I was on the right line. The rest of the course wasn't too bad and I caught Bruce with #8 in his hand as he moved it to the correct place. The rest of the course there was a line of guys in front, mostly because they had lost time at the misplaced control. Jules came through us all at the 3rd last and I hung on to follow him to the last, where he lost 20secs and I dropped 2 spots. But the course was cancelled anyway.

MTB Cycling 40:00 [3] 14.0 km (2:51 / km)
shoes: Chiru Pulse 29er

MTBO at Indigo Winery, south of Beechworth.

Score course, followed by a short line course. I took the same route from the start as TRicky but we navigated pretty poorly and lost small amounts on several controls. Got to the 2nd loop a few mins down on Alex Randall and Chris Firman and just behind Ricky and Eoin. Good hard hit out and pretty good fun.

Kayaking 55:50 [3] 8.06 km (6:56 / km) +85m 6:35 / km

morning paddle after night shift. I had to decide between a paddle or a sleep before driving to Chiltern for the 5-days. Such nice morning the paddle won. Gonna be a bit tired.

X-mas 5 days- Day 1- Magenta

Had a bit of a snooze in the car on the way to Chiltern but wasn't expecting much today. Was surprised by how warm it was too. I didn't make any major errors but missed a few in around the circle when I failed to understand some of the gold mining mapping. But generally just a long way off the pace. At least I kept all the juniors behind me which was the main aim.

Running long 2:55:15 [3] 32.38 km (5:25 / km) +964m 4:43 / km

Christmas morning run on my own. Kathryn wanted to do intervals and had to get back to prepare dinner, while I wanted to do a long run and avoid excess time with the father-in-law.
Ran to Mirboo North and back via the hills route. Didn't set the trails on fire but got to 3hrs without too much trouble.

shoes: Finn Molokai

Long paddle on the Thompson River with Kathryn, Jarad, Sam Robinson, and a couple of other guys. Surprised by how warm the water was. Saw a couple of deer. Very nice day out except the molakai got a hole in it and was filling with 50L of water in about 30mins. Still I got a better strength work out from it.

Highlight for the day. Rescuing a koala from a coal conveyor. Its a shame no one had their phone to record it as he was pretty big and not really happy about being moved.

Afternoon run on the rail trail. I was surprised by how good my legs felt and probably should have hopped back in the car and driven to the Newborough track for a 5km race. Not much soreness in the body which is good.
