MTB Cycling 1:22:15 [3] 32.02 km (2:34 / km) +347m 2:26 / km
shoes: Merida Ninety-Six Team

Afternoon. DIS.

Arvo ride around the plantations and what were once plantations. Feeling a bit tired

Kathryn cleaned up gold medals in the Vic Country Champs in 5km yesterday morning, and 10km this morning. Good effort and times were pretty slick. She'd hoped to take it a bit easier but was pushed by some girl from Bendigo so had to run a bit faster for the wins.

Running 41:22 [3] 8.62 km (4:48 / km) +72m 4:36 / km
shoes: Asic 2110 GT

Afternoon. Newborough.

From the Newborough Athletics track where the Victorian Country Aths Champs were being held. I ran out to the Moe-Yallourn rail trail and pumped along there for 4km and back. Turned into a nice warm arvo and I was pretty pumped after watching TDU stage.

Road Cycling 3:48:54 [3] 108.46 km (2:07 / km) +1232m 2:00 / km

Morning. Traralgon-Tyers-Boola Rd Rtn.

Morning bunch ride from Traralgon. It was a howling westerly and I considered just riding on my own cos I didn't think the bunch ride would be that fun. A small group today of 10 rolled out to Glengarry then some smart chap suggested we ride in the hills (more sheltered from wind) rather than the flats. So up to Rawson instead. I couldn't convince anyone else to join me on a side trip to Walhalla so continued on my own. Then back to Rawson, Erica, Moe, Newborough. Met Kathryn at the track and intended to keep going back to Traralgon but got a lift home instead. Shame as I'd be battling wind all day and was looking forward to the downwind run back to the car. Felt pretty good today and loving the power in the new Lake shoe/Time road pedal combination.

Kayaking 1:20:03 [3] 13.56 km (5:54 / km) +89m 5:43 / km
shoes: Fenn Millennium

Morning. Hazelwood Pondage.

Beautiful warm and calm morning paddle on the pondage. Did one lap at a decent pace, then 10x1min on/30secs off and a cool down.

Random thought #2- I now dislike wind more than rain.

Running 41:44 [3] 8.04 km (5:11 / km) +73m 4:58 / km
shoes: Nike Air Span +6

Morning. Hazelwood.

Followed the paddle with a run. Legs felt nice and fresh, probably should start training harder.

Running 44:13 [3] 5.03 km (8:47 / km) +105m 7:58 / km

Evening. DIS.

Easy jog with Anna and Ryan around Kathryn's adventure course. Involved a lilo and paddle on the dam which was nice on a warm evening.

Note

I saw a snake when I was mowing the lawn today. Got me thinking, should I
a) mow the lawn more often
b) buy a whipper snipper to do the edges properly and give them less place to hide
c) hassle the builder to finish the house so we can move into town
d) Make Kathryn mow the lawn or
e) all of the above

Kayaking 46:37 [3] 6.91 km (6:45 / km) +33m 6:35 / km
ahr:124 max:172 shoes: Red7 double

Afternoon. Hazelwood Pondage.

Afternoon paddle with Kathryn. It was a crap day for paddling, windy as it always is and in a direction where it was impossible to hide. Felt pretty weak.

Road Cycling 1:13:26 [5] 47.17 km (1:33 / km) +48m 1:33 / km
ahr:177 max:228

Evening. Hazelwood Pondage.

Decided to move up to A grade today. Decision proved right as there were too few B graders anyway and they just started with A. It was bloody windy as usual, and A ride 4 laps so it was gonna be hard work.
A thought I had an idea of what A grade was like from the other week where they caught B- but I was wrong. It was 48km of 10sec intervals as I tried to stay on the wheel as they surged again and again. The peleton split in the first lap, with me at the back and we finally made our way back on near the end of the lap. The next were pretty similar, with me feeling like I was gonna be dropped about 10times but somehow holding on. Finally had a few turns on the front on the last lap but apparently I have big L on the back of my helmet and no one is allowed to pass me until I'm worn out and they are doing at least 20kph faster than I am.
Well I mightn't like the tactics, but it will make me stronger. The annoying thing is I rode circles round most of these guys for 170km of hills last Saturday but can't hold their wheel when they surge. I will win a race by the end of the year*

*But probably not til next season

ahr:140 max:169

Morning. Tyers-Boola Rd Rtn.

morning ride with Murray. The weather was crap and Murray was soft and didn't want to ride for very long but at least it got me out of bed.

Running 1:05:24 [3] 13.16 km (4:58 / km) +113m 4:46 / km
ahr:150 max:185 shoes: Nike Air Span +6

Afternoon. Traralgon.

evening run with Kathryn, and John's group. Good to catch up for a chat and I felt really bouncy. Did a few surges with John to make it more interesting. Haven't felt that good running for ages- but maybe it was the new shoes.
