Turned out to be a better day than expected so headed to Inverloch for a bit of time in the new surf ski. Started from the surf club and paddled to Cape Paterson and back. Gee it seems harder than it used to be, even in a new supposedly faster boat. While new surf ski designs are always meant to be faster and more stable than their predecessors, I don't really believe the hype any more. My old millenium was meant to be as tippy a surf ski every made, but i rarely fell off it. While my lack of paddling and detraining probably contributes to feeling less comfortable in the boat, I think the lighter boat makes it more tippy than heavier boat and hence no faster.
Anyway it was nice to be on the water. No company other than half a dozen baby shearwater birds out testing their wings with fly bys. One of them almost ended up in my lap a couple of times. Had a short stop at Cape Paterson before coming back. Was headwind/crosswind more of the way. Only really had 10mins downwind at the end, and I then fell out twice as I was so tired.

Post paddle run along the Burunong Coast. Lots of rock hopping, a little on the road, and a swim along the shore past the caves on the way back. Left foot still sore but bearable. Legs feeling a littler fresher which is good.

Bright Four Peaks- Mt Buffalo
I started with Kez, Rob and Gareth and hoped a bit of extra incentive would make me more competitive today. However my calves were blown after 10mins and I could tell it was gonna be a tough day. I came good on the 2nd half when the top 3 blokes passed me and I really like the rough bits. Still only 1 min behind Damon and importantly stayed in front of Hanny. 10th place overall in a pretty competitive year. Hope I can make it back to Bright next year.

Bright Four Peaks- Mt Bogong.
This was the replacement run for Mt Hotham which was closed due to the summer bushfire. The legs were very tender but not too bad running uphill, worse on the small flat/downhills sections. I passed Josh and Kathryn early and Damon never caught up which was good. I passed myself and was still going pretty good by the finish. Was 1min behind Damon but Gareth/Rob/Kez smoked us again.

Running hills 1:14:22 [3] 7.41 km (10:02 / km) +84m 9:30 / km
shoes: Saucony Peregrine (green)

Nice slow decent back down Bogong.
