cross-training 40:00 [3]

Gym - been a long time but no running for a few days will hopefully help my leg! Elliptical.

Stretching 15:00 [3]

And rolling.

cross-training (Basketball) 20:00 [3]

Teachers versus students (annual) game - had fun, ran a lot and made sure the teachers kept a decent lead. Fun! :) too bad I only play once a year.

Running 15:00 [3] 2.0 km (7:30 / km)

Warm up and cool down

Running 34:00 [3] 3.7 km (9:11 / km)

TNT - two and a half sister plus a step sister. Did 2 sets of the 3 loops, shin pain is increasing so I am going to ease off the running for a few days to see result.

Stretching 15:00 [3]

And some rolling.

Orienteering 30:00 [3] 3.0 km (10:00 / km)

Ran the ARX line training minus the stairs, although it was entertaining to watch the kids and others reactions as they carried the weights to the top, with Sylvie. Took it easy as many of the trails were still quite slippy (only 1 fall!).

Trail Running 34:00 [3] 5.0 km (6:48 / km)

TNT - Aberdeen loops. Was a bit slick if you did not stick to the grass. Felt pretty good, have not done these in a long time but felt a pinch in might left calf for the last 2. Did singles then doubles (3 sets in total). Time to roll and stretch.

Trail Running 15:00 [3] 2.0 km (7:30 / km)

Warm up and Cool Down - missed the official warmup so run down to Aberdeen and back

Stretching 15:00 [3]

Event: TOC O Cup

Orienteering 59:15 [3] 6.4 km (9:15 / km)

O-cup #4 - started ok, took a bit more time getting from 3 to 4 then wanted as drop was steeper than I anticipated. REALLY bad choice going into 8, started high but when it got nasty, dropped down. Wasn't much better as there was tons of undergrowth to climb through. Initially when I was planning ahead I was going to run out to the trail but completely forgot that when the time came. Would have saved lots of time. Went pretty well until 14, I knew I was right above it but could not see it - I was right but just wasted a lot of time of time second guessing myself.

Trail Running 1:17:00 [3] 9.6 km (8:01 / km)

First SMT ever - actually really enjoyed it (I don't know why the surprises me so much), took some short cuts and stuck to the orchard loop on the second half. Will be out again now that I know that it is not as intimidating as I imagined. :)

Trail Running 20:00 [3] 3.0 km (6:40 / km)

Warm up and cool down for TNT.

Trail Running 30:00 [3]

TNT - Poison Ivy, we weren't sure if this workout had a name but thought this one was fitting. Starting at the bottom of 3 sisters, running three different hills and back (varying length and incline). Ended up doing 4 of those in total.

Trail Running 40:00 [3] 4.0 km (10:00 / km)

TNT - arrived a bit late so missed warm up. We did the west side of the winter rally course, and no one left me behind :) After that we did Bannistairs (up 2 and down 1), skipped the drop down between 3 and 4 so everyone would not have to wait too long. I like this one and will remember it when looking for something to do.

Orienteering race 2:49:00 [3] 12.5 km (13:31 / km)

Another Snowshoe Raid with Kris. Started off feeling depleted and I am not sure why. Really didn't have very much to give, but I think we made some good route choices to start and breaking trail all the way straight down from the Aid Station was so much fun I could not help but push beyond and find some energy. It was all up hill from there though. Nav was spot on, had another team mention that they were not going to let us out of sight since we were going directly to every control. Only mistake was the matrix, was focusing more on getting Kris off in the right direction when we split that I did not realize I was heading into the wrong field to get #2. Took a few minutes of searching to realize that the hilltop was in the next field. Made it out of the Matrix with 8 minutes to spare. Ended up 2nd place masters women and third place women's team overall. Fun day and always great to run with Kris.

Trail Running 30:00 [3]

Warm up and cold down

Trail Running 30:00 [3]

TNT - small group again, we decided to do cardiac hill. 2 sets of 5 and then 5 sprints at the top. Great night to run, no headlamps needed!

Wednesday Jan 13, 2016 #

Trail Running 44:00 [3] 4.7 km (9:22 / km)

Swedish ham run with ARX. Kris had no headlight as she discovered it was out of juice at the start so ran with her to light the way and chat.

Event: OOA O Cup

Orienteering 1:13:00 [3] 7.6 km (9:36 / km)

O-Cup Oakville - distance is approximate as I forgot to turn on my Garmin. :( wet, rainy, slippery race! Made a bad choice in both boxes, should have avoided the steep climb to D and just continued along the trail to B... Not sure if it would have been better but could not have been worse! For every step I took forward I slip back twice as far!! Did not feel like I had much in my legs today and was easily drained on the hills and the mud. In the second box I think I would have been wiser to go for g than f as the forest conditions were not too bad and would have eliminated a slippery climb. A fun race and great turn out!

Trail Running 36:00 [3] 4.9 km (7:21 / km)

A very slippery trail run with Emil and Kris, started on the rail trail which was spotty and then onto Spring Creek Trail and back along the rail trail. Slower pace and not too long as we have O-Cup in the morning tomorrow. Hopefully all the ice melts today before it gets a chance to freeze over tonight!

Trail Running 12:00 [3]

Warm Up Run (TNT)

Running 10:00 [3]

Stairs, no one else showed up for TNT tonight and Danish Dynamite felt 100 percent so decided to do a few stairs and called it a day. I did 4 half flights, 2 singles and 2 doubles.

Wednesday Jan 6, 2016 #

Orienteering 30:30 [3] 4.1 km (7:26 / km)

X-league #1. First race with a great turn out and fun course. Incomletely missed #4, never saw it hiding in the corner. I got the #6 on the second ,so though which was quite treacherous, head I not seen the headlamps up there I might not have ventured up there. Decided to stop there and get to the finish in a reasonable time, just made it!

Trail Running 20:00 [3] 3.0 km (6:40 / km)

Warm up and down

Trail Running 30:00 [3] 3.4 km (8:49 / km)

TNT - icy 2 Sisters. Ran it on my own but managed to fit 4 double loops in (well actually 2 single and 3 double). A bit icy for my liking in sections, took it really careful. looking forward to the thaw!

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Legs are pretty tight after the increase in running this week, also did some ankle exercises.

Sunday Jan 3, 2016 #

Trail Running 1:15:00 [3] 8.5 km (8:49 / km)

Waterfall run 2016. Did the purple and green loops was supposed to be 10ish but looks more like 8.5km. Beautiful day for the run and amazing post race food and fun. Thanks to Baloney and Trav for a great day!

Trail Running 1:12:00 [3] 10.35 km (6:57 / km)

New Years run with Kris, missed the heat (a bit) but happy to be back on the trails. Uphills were slow and a few slippery patches, but other than that a great way to start the new year!
