Orienteering race (Australian 3 Days) 44:08 [5] *** 5.89 km (7:30 / km) +144m 6:41 / km
17c shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212 #3

Middle Distance at Connorton.
Mucked up #2 really bad ~4:30 lost. I was a bit further on the right hand side of the slope than I wanted to be, then corrected myself but then I came across a knoll with rocks on it and went over to the right, across the wrong saddle. Was confused by nothing matching up and was generally pretty disorientated. Eventually corrected it. So bummed looking of routegadget because I was going fine before I randomly turned right. Not the only one who made this mistake though.
I also ran straight past #8 without seeing it, I think that I had spotted the flag for #9 and thought it must be mine and just bolted for it, when if I had double checked and looked up in the other direction, I would've been right next to the right control. Saw the shack at the top of the hill and was able to relocate from there. Lost about 1:30.
Lost about a min on #12 checking a flag a bit higher than mine on the hill. Stupid because I knew that it wasn't mine but checked it anyway in case.
Could also feel all the water I had drunk that afternoon floating around in my stomach, yuck and should've had a better lunch because I didn't have the energy to push as much as I wanted.
Lost probably around 6:30 in total.
Not quite the race I wanted, but definitely learnt a lot from it. Had some fast splits in the detail, especially in the second half after a slow start, it was just the longer legs that mucked me up.
Really fun though, such a cool area with really good running, even though I managed to fall at least 5 times.

NightNav at Rainworth.
Not great, I was so cold, just couldn't seem to warm up at all and it was about 30mins in when I started to defrost. As a result I was running pretty slow and stiff. Didn't really enjoy this much but there are some cute old Queenslander houses (and also a couple of extravagant mansions) in that area which were a nice distraction I guess.

Orienteering (Stockyard South) 44:35 [3] *** 6.06 km (7:21 / km) +106m 6:46 / km
15c shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

Okay run, not super in it mentally though. Wanted to use this as a training for compass work and bearings, which went mostly pretty well on the legs where this happened. Other legs had better options than compass though.
There were also more root mounds, less termite mounds and different green than on the map because this was an older version of the map.
The small flags were so hard to see so I spent a bit of time of a couple of controls stuffing around in the circle because of this.

Running 24:21 [3] 3.85 km (6:19 / km) +25m 6:08 / km
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

Extra run to fill the long run time, though was cut short because my fam wanted to leave.
Included 10 x 25s terrain intervals on 40s. Tired legs and stopped lifting my knees enough in the last 2.
Nice out though.
