Run race (Chincogan Charge) 37:27 [5] 6.11 km (6:08 / km) +307m 4:54 / km
shoes: Asics Kayano 23

Started way outside my comfort zone along the road before the climb at 1.5km doing about 3.30s then struggled up the climb. Should have backed right off at the start and have some legs for the climb especially as the final section was over 40% gradient. Got to the top in 23 min then felt OK coming back down, although had to hold back a bit at times due to all the runners coming the other way. Got to the road for the last 1.5km and was able to pick up the pace again to do the back section in 14 min. Would like to come back, a bit fitter and not being so wasted before the climb.

Map memory course, looking at each leg at every control. Pretty easy map so wasn't too difficult. A couple bush controls weren't exactly how I pictured them but only lost 5 secs or so.

Woke up a bit dehydrated and hungover after drinking all day at the Big Pineapple Beer Festival. Always intended to take this easy after only a week training anyway so settled right back from the fast start. Got to about 5-6km and started to feel OK so picked up the pace and was able to finish much stronger than it all began. Finished about 30th.
