O-Ringen E5 - Chasing Start Long - 64th

Well that didn't go to plan. Knew from my warm up that the legs had well and truly given up on me now, summer was catching up with me.
Anyways I started poorly getting caught to #1. Stuck with the two boys that had caught me for a bit but then dropped off and made a biiiig mistake. Thought about packing it in because I really wasn't enjoying it but continued on at a jog.

Niels (Halden) caught me up and he'd twisted an ankle so was jogging as well. We cruised the rest of the course together.

A dissapointing end to the week but still 4/5 good races is good and it's just shown that I can race the big bois on scandi terrain. Looking forward to getting back next year!

Note

Got ~3 mins game time playing right back in the Sweden VS The World O-Ringen football match. Good fun. Real football is actually knackering.

O-Ringen E4 - Long - 12th

Woah! Probs the most technical area of the week and it was actually lovely. Basically today I was clean but not fast at all, legs are starting to give up on me. Lost 2 mins on a routechoice leg so I'm a little dissapointed with that and it would have been an okay result apart from this. Really enjoyed it mind and happy with how clean I was!

O-Ringen E3 - Sprint - 10th

Normally I don't enjoy sprints too much, they hurt and I always get caught out/ make stupid mistakes. However today I was loving it! Really cool quarantine and start area at the top of the town so was hyoed even before starting.
As I got my control descriptions I saw that literally every control was inside, outside etc. I knew it was gonna be a tricky one.

Started okay, a bit cautious with flower beds and what not through 1, 2 and 3 but fine really. Bit of a bad route to 4 but again all fine. Then down into the main but of town I read my descriptions and didn't get caught out. Noice! Spectator was very cool and a little confusing so I missed the best route after the spec. Ah well.

From here to finish I was V good, another cool section in a park with olive green buts to think about and lots of spectators, feeling big time running through the crowds. A few cheeky little bits before the finish which I just about managed and home safe and sound.

A little dissapointed to be so far back but I guess thats what happens when you just try to race clean. Like at EYOC I guess. I missed a few key routes and was also a bit hesitant around flower beds which all lost me time. Anyways I know what needs to get worked on!

ahr:174 max:192 shoes: VJ Bold 9

O-Ringen E2 - Middle - 8th

Good race. Could have been better.

Started steadily and well, just getting into it, sticking to the plan of running hard when I could and backing off at key moments. Very good through the first section eith no mistakes. A mistake to 6, was too high then faffed. Caught a runner here and we raced the rest of the course together.
7 was good, me on the nav. 8 he took the lead and I didn't stick to my own plan and we made another mistake.
From here to the finish I ran my own race and finished really well.

Without mistakes I would have won. Basically that is all that needs to be said. I was fast enough and so nearly technically composed enough. In middle distance racing you just need to be clean. In longs you need to push hard at points. In sprints you need to always be one step ahead. Simples right...

O-Ringen E1 - Long - 23rd

Manic off the start with people going everywhere, I also missed number 1 and hit the wrong control which didn't help. After that I settled well and was doing some good O. Got caught out by the sneaky 4 which was basically just a cravas with the control tucked into it. Just needed to be more careful on compass.
For the rest of the course I was clean but not quick, the ankles were not rating the terrain so couldn't push on.
Also good fun when I saw Freddie following Perrin. Lol, classic.
Okay start to the week!
