The Enchatments thru hike, plus Dragontail, with Kelsey and Brigette. We started from the lower Snow Lakes trailhead and ended at the Stewart Lake/Colchuck lake trailhead. Hitched a ride down with some other hikers. This was a long day. We were on the trail from 5:30am to 8:00pm. It wasn’t especially far (19 miles round trip), but we were moving slowly and taking lots of breaks. Brigette had some severe hip flexor issues. Beautiful hike though! I had heard so many good things about the enchantments, and I was excited to get out there myself. They definitely lived up to the hype. Saw several baby mountain goats which were adorable! The goats were surprisingly used to people, and I got the closest I ever have to a goat before. There were LOTS of people out on the trail, a number of them camped, a number thru hiking, and a handful of people trail running thru. I’d love to come back here for a trail run and add on little Annapurna. I think this could be done in 9 hours total time if I was moving quickly.

What my watch missed recording. If I want to track long hikes, I need a better battery life

Went to the LHS run at Ron Regis. My old coach was injured, so he wasn’t running, and I was stuck running with the sophomore boys. They took it out pretty fast, so I decided to maintain it and go for a tempo-y sort of workout. Kept dropping the pace slowly, and the boys kept slowly dropping back. At 5.5mi, where I cut it for a cool down the last half mile back, there was only one boy still hanging on. I know they’re young but man do they need to work on their pacing!!

Second Wednesday night worlds. Not great. I got out too slowly, and then had mechanical issues throughout. My chain came off 3 times, and the first time was about 3 minutes in, so everyone passed me, and I got stuck behind slower people. I was able to pass a few people, but I’m not confident enough in my abilities to pass except for where it’s really wide, so it took a while. And as soon as my chain came off for the second and third times, those people just passed me right back. My seat also came pretty loose, so I was riding with a crooked seat that had slipped down considerably. Ugh. It was raining and muddy today too, which made for several chunks of mud flying into my eyes and mouth. Not nearly as much fun as last week.
