Very relaxed loop and a half around the Itch-kep-pe campground. Not only are my quads still a little sore, but my back has some tight muscles too. From several nights of tent sleeping?

Mount Nebo, the highest peak in the Wasatch. My legs were pretty trashed from yesterday’s adventure, so I wasn’t moving very quickly. I got a late start too (2:30p). Original plan was to do a 14.5 mile loop, along the ridge and then back on the bench trail. I didn’t summit until 4:45p, and I figured I wanted to be back at my car before the sun set, so I modified my path to glissade down a huge, long snowfield between Nebo and Middle Nebo, and I met up with the bench trail on my way down. I’d like to come back and do the full loop sometime, and to hit North Peak along the way, since the trail doesn’t go over the top of it.

Lake Blanche trail. This is maybe my favorite short trail run/hike adventure to date! It was absolutely gorgeous.
So many random thoughts, so here’s some word vomit: Salt lake city is amazing. I already kinda knew that, and I already kinda thought I wanted to live here someday, but that’s all confirmed now. The mountains are so so close to the city. That heart rate though! I didn’t think I could sustain a hr in the upper 170s for over an hour, but apparently I can. Definitely was feeling a little shaky at times though — although that could have been a fueling problem. Ironic that the day I was talking with Siri about her bonking experience, I ran up a steep trail in the evening having only eaten a burrito bowl and a handful of chips. Figures. Scarfed down the remaining PB in my jar with some honey when I got back to the car and felt a lot better. I don’t really think I like hiking or trail running alone. This was okay, because there were lots of people (bad with COVID though), which made me feel more comfortable out on the trail. Had there not been as many people, I don’t think I would have enjoyed this nearly as much as I did because I would have been worried about a million different unlikely possibilities. Only about 1/4 of the other hikers were wearing face coverings. I pulled my shirt up over my face any time I passed people. Was feeling somewhat meh before this, but such an amazing run was a good thing. It reminded me that I need to get out in the Bozeman area mountains too — I don’t need to drive 6+ hours to have a good adventure.

Mountain biking with Sam, from home to the triple tree lookout and back. This kinda kicked my butt, and I don’t know when was the last time I did a ride this long. So much fun though! Reminded me that I should use my bike every now and then, since the trails for it are pretty solid.

Story Hills loop, with Sam since she’s in town, passing through on her road trip to southern Utah! Fun to have a running buddy, and fun for her to be so excited about how fantastic Bozeman is :)
