orienteering race (Day 3) 1:46:00 [5] 18.0 km (5:53 / km)

pretty brutal classic in hot conditions but very satisfying one to finish.
got off to a bad start when i was way to far to the left on 3, lost about 1.5 mins there and craney came past me. jumped on the back of him but i stopped for a couple of drinks at 4 and he didnt so i wasnt with him long. went straight to 5 as i thought it would be pretty good running, it turned out to be greener and rockier than the map indicated. i made the same mistake again on the long leg, went straight over the top of the hill, didnt really lose any time on the other guys, but it was really hard going and a lot thicker than the map indicated. wasted energey for no time gain on that one i think and was pretty spent through 10-11. saw parto at 10 and we were together for a few controls, re caught craney on the way to 12. he was quite dehydrated and in a bad way (didnt help him that there was no water at 12) he ran with me and parto for a bit but he made the right call to abandon and head for the water at 19. lost parto in the thick stuff on the wat to 17. caught josh at 19, got away from him but lost time at 21 and he re caught. finished just in front of josh and geoff s.
felt like i was running pretty well today and it was good for the confidence today as i never felt like i was at a point where i might pop.

orienteering race (Day 2) 36:00 [5] 6.0 km (6:00 / km)

great middle distance course in the same area as yesterday.
pretty average run all up, was moving ok but i was just far to scrappy in the rock between 5 and 8. lost 1- 1.5mins on both no.5 and number 8 and 30 secs on each of 6 and 7. today i learnt that i need to work on racing in rocky-steep terrain because i struggled on the rocky hillsides but was fine when the forest opened up and flatened out. from 9 to the finish was great orienteering and number 1 was a bloody scary first control

Running warm up/down 30:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:00 / km)

orienteering 18:00 [5] 3.2 km (5:37 / km)

great bush sprint. pretty messy/crappy run from myself though. lost time on 2 (bad direction out of 1) and then on 11 (the embankment didnt make sense to me) but blew the race on 17 when i ran the wrong direction and ended up on the hillside near 21 and 22. cruised home after that saving myself for the rest of easter. great area and course

Intervals with the lake group. Good showing with Richard back and a new draftee Fraser into the group. 6x1km with 60secs recovery. Hit the first 3 with Brady and breeds in about 3.11 then they sped up a bit and I just kept the same pace. Hard work. Hot and sweaty night
